Unofficial Starbound Forums Update Thread

Essentially, the topic is sharing what is going on between the two forums...including opportunities for cross community culture and collaboration.

Question for you guys: should we have a roster here of folks whose "primary SB home" is SBF? Kinda pointing out the cross community ties, etc?

Could even do the reverse over there...

Voluntary of course.

Or is this just a waste of time?

 

Please keep the forum clean, don't forget there are some younger people on the forum.

I don't have a problem, but the "younger people" might. Although kids see a lot these days, so I doubt they are effected. If they are on this forum chances are they have seen most of the other shit the internet has to offer.

 

No excuse not to follow the rules. I recommend reviewing them.

 

If everyone blindly followed rules, this world would suck. I understand the rules, I just think they could use some fixing.

 

But this thread isn't really where you should be having this discussion.

Not saying I 100% agree with everything either...I know it is very different here on some fronts, guys, versus SBF...but it is their house, and that bears respecting.

I suspect this is why some folks naturally migrate to one spot or the other - but I sincerely hope we all take the time to be gracious visitors to the other site from time to time. It would be very on topic if folks have ideas to foster that collaborative community spirit.

....back to the thread/topic at hand.

What "benefit"? This can only lead to unnecessary social barriers.

(I would also love to know exactly what post was deleted here in the name of "the children". Sure can't wait to have my posts deleted with no warning for some irrational yet indisputable rule! Anyone care to PM me? )

 

An avenue also worth exploring, IMHO. Is there a benefit? It was just an idea, after all...

 

I would much rather see something such as a list of people and their preferred server, when the time comes. ;]
But then people could just put that in their sigs as well.

 

I'm open to anything...again, was just my floating an idea after seeing a handful of SBF folks making a presence over here.

Cannot wait to play the game...and I hope your server idea on SBF comes to pass.

I'm happy to pass on any roster idea if there is not support....of course.

I'm presently on both (although admittedly I'm expecting to be banned from her because I have a tendency to speak my mind in the face of opposition). I view them as two entirely different sorts of communities; you might consider trying the other one out to see if you like the more personal "flavor" of a small community. I mostly want to form deeper connections and feel I can do it better on a community where I'm not just lost as another unimportant number in the overwhelmingly large crowd - the unofficial forums feel like that place to do that to me. It's also easier to be recognized for one's real merits on a smaller forum...I've about had my fill of being ignored or pushed aside because I don't aspire to have a large sum of hollow popularity. ^_~

That said, the activity on here is obviously going to be higher. It depends on the sort of discussions you're looking for as well.

 

Oh wow the rumors ARE true, the mods really are dead serious about the rules.

8Elliott: certainly a fair...and often asked...question.

Klapp actually nailed it pretty well, tbh. Each spot has its own "feel" that may be a better fit for a given individual vs another.

Also, check out Welsh's perspective from past experience on page one of this thread.

I suspect these factors will become more clear once the game launches.
