Unofficial Starbound Forums Update Thread

There isn't much happening on either side lately, I'm affraid...

All I can add is that I changed my mind and I'll start my roleplay on the unofficial first, but I guess that's not really an interesting event ;p

I hope something will happen, it's been pretty boring lately. Maybe if the devs would release a bunch more screenshots, or maybe a video... :s

 

Well, we are in the interesting stage of a ton of hope/imagination while we wait for more "meat".

This can be a quiet phase...or it can be an exciting one. Who cares if your ideas are actually implemented - throw them out there while things are so wide open. Speculate wildly on either site. Have fun with it...brainstorm.

I don't see nearly as much of this as I had hoped....But, yeah, activity and membership will rise as we get closer to and post launch.

 

Maybe one of the reasons we're not bringing out as much ideas as you hoped, is because the possibilities are too wide. There doesn't seem to be a limit to this game other than a third dimension and pixels. People like to get around these limits, at least, I do, but when there are no limits, everything is possible, and then you'll get bored quickly... :/

Another possibility is that we already made a lot of suggestions, and we can run loe on ideas, especially original ones...

Either way, more activity will come once we know more about this gane than some nice pictures and "high quality"

Why do people make unofficial forums when there are already official forums out there? Just wondering.

Well, technically some people use it as a getaway if ever they don't feel comfortable with the Official forum.
Others make them just because they want to.
Others make them because they don't want to deal with huge amounts of people, therefore isolate into a smaller, possibly more controllable community.

 

I dunno. Some just want power over people, so they make the forums, thus being the administrator. My friend does this. xD

Also, I spent a lot more time over there and I enjoy it there a lot more.

In the end, view it as two sides of the same coin....we are all here for the same reason and the same game - we just choose different ways to go about it, with neither harming the other.

In the end, if we do it right, both sides will be better for the others' existence.

That sounds interesting. I wonder how that will turn out... Personally, I don't see how either forum can get better from the other forum, but I guess we'll see. SBF would probably get members who came from SBC and simply didn't like it here, but other than that?

 

There are plenty of examples of fan and official forums living side by side, providing different experiences. Welsh even gave a good example early on in this thread...as she has substantial experience in analogous situations.

Great! There aren't many members yet, and the forum is by far most active on profile pages, so every new member would help out a lot!

I think we also need more threads out there, but because of the limited game information, it's hard to get a starboundrelated thread that hasn't been made yet... Maybe we need more artists?...

 

Or more game information to stir up current artists ;P

 

Indeed. Shall we torture more game information out of the devs?

 

The only torture I can think of that we can actually do is if we all massivly leave Starbound Comunity :/
They'll probably realize they got to tell us more, but it's impossible and not fun to pull off :s

I've actually never heard about the un-official forum, took a look and it's pretty nice.

 

More info will be nice....and it will eventually arrive. That said, we have the foundation in place in both locations for the eventual explosion of activity stemming from those info releases. That is all we needed to accomplish thus far.

My hope with this thread and it's companion is that they will be at least one bridge between those "two sides of the coin"

 

Alright, since nobody else is doing this: SBF now has a new theme! And it is bright white!

Personally, I'm not a big fan of white, so I'm still using the old theme, but the majority of people seem to like it. There are also some new icons and stuff.

Oh, and a while back, Starbound Forums started to intergrate with "Indy Gamers". This also changed the layout a bit, but it didn't change all that much.

I haven't stopped updating, maple...just waiting for things to be finalized on the theme...and I covered the IG integration a bit ago.

Next update I was gonna do was new theme plus results from contest 2.
