Unknown evil?

Maybe it was just some guy whose name was Evil.

Reptiles? Meh, many are generally quite venerable without heat from the sun, or some kind of heating pack implemented in their suits.
As for insects, you can pretty much freeze em, fry em, put em in the stew...

I, of course, immediately thought of the Borg.

 

Wouldint that kinda be messed up if alians came to take over the earth when starbound came out?

 

An ancient evil that has awoken after a million years of sleep and you are the chosen one to destroy this evil and save humanity.

Sound original, hah.

 

I haven't read the entire topic, so I apologise if this has already been said.

Whatever destroyed our homeplanet, supposing it's some sort of humanoid race, I hope that we do not get to play as one of them. I feel that the option of choosing them being present in the Creator would detract from their level of danger and perhaps even from their ability to inspire fear. They would lose some of their mysterious and lethal value, in a way. Seeing someone as one of the "evil creatures" in practically no gear, chopping trees, would almost be a little bit sad, if you know what I mean.

I hope that such creatures, whatever they may be, remain unplayable and extremely dangerous. Something that you actually believe that destroyed your planet and must be dealt with accordingly.

However, I would very much like if we could get access to their technology. Building weapons, vehicles, etc. out of their own tech would be fantastic and the results would probably be quite powerful.

In terms of speculating what this "evil force" is, I really have no solid idea. Chucklefish is now known for making unexpected twists (Florans being aggressive, Robots medieval, etc.), so anything can be expected. I wonder if even themselves already know at this point what that evil force might be.

 

For RP purposes I hope it will be possible to appear as a space penguin at least temporarily. Much hilarity will ensue on multiplayer.

You don't have to come up with something original.
When entire planets and species are in mortal danger, it's usually humans.
Of course there's always exceptions, but that'll be human players.

 

This would actually be quite funny, if some Human faction were the "evil force" for some reason

 

And that is why we can't play as those damned penguins!

 

I'd be quite disappointed if it were Penguins...

 

Yeah, I don't think we should have the option of playing as them. (that would also create some plot holes when your own race destroys your homeworld) I feel like this race should be the toughest enemies in the game, however. You have to think and strategize if you ever want to take even one of them down.

Also, yeah, it would be really cool to have access to their technology and gear. Maybe end-game content?

 

I am thinking a hyper intelligent shade of the color Blue.
