I totally agree. The developers said something about having boss arenas in dungeons, though, and I imagine that when those are completed and the dungeon protection system is included to prevent players from cheesing with blocks, maybe we'll see better. The three bosses we currently have are very simple, which is probably due in part to the fact that you can summon them in the open. My hope is that the way these bosses spawn and how and why we fight them will somehow become more integrated with the story line and quest system, which some sort of NPCs actually giving the quest instead of you figuring it out or being part of a tutorial. Maybe by then they'll have improved upon the battles a bit, as well.

I'm hoping that the inclusion of more and more dungeons and quests will gradually mean more and more to do. I'm also hoping that the variety of equipment expands substantially so that there are a lot of different ways to compete in PvP, since that is another dimension of gameplay that can last a very long time.

I actually thought the first boss was hilarious and inspired and was much better than the rest of the flying GIFs of doom from Terraria. I'm pretty sure the next bosses will be even more so as this BETA progresses.

Theres so much we don't have yet - Id wait to speculate til we hit Phase 2 - which will be basically 'feature complete' - this phase has zero indication of what the long term will be like.

One thing I think would be nifty in repeatable bosses is an increase in difficulty after you've defeated them before, but now they have a chance to drop loot.

Lets take the UFO for example, when you defeat him the first time he drops a Molten Core and maybe some Pixels.
The second time perhaps he shows up with a pre-existing escort of little UFOs, maybe his main gun now causes larger explosions and/or can destroy blocks, but now when you take him out he has a chance to drop a legendary weapon, or good fuel (such as uranium), or he just explodes in a shower of pixels and blocks, etc.
