I think this would be awesome, gave me inspiration to write down a little list of what some of the civs could be and do. Cave men - Approaches the player cautiously and attempts to figure out what they are, or tries to attack and eat the player Tribals - Tribals will either attack you, thinking you to be a demon, view you as a god, or take interest in your gear and attempt to trade metals and other objects for some of it. This could open up possibilities of getting relics and things from them that can't be obtained elsewhere. Medieval - Medieval civilizations will likely view you as a warlock, demon or witch and attempt to attack you. However, some may introduce you to their king or queen and attempt to make friends. Modern - Modern civilizations will either attempt to make 'first contact' with you, or assume you're there to invade and attempt to repell you with low-tier conventional weapons. Space age - whatever the devs decide to do with the game could easily be converted into a civilization and popped in here. Pirates, traders, what have you.
Not really. Well kind of. To me its more for the adventure aspect.I would love to find planets like this. Plus it makes sense that this would happen. It would be extremely fun to find these things and interact with them. And would be ten times more fun to explore. It makes no sense that every intelligent enemy in the universe has lazor pistols and rifles. It would also be extremely fun to explore these planets.
well, you could have a reputation. highest good reputation is a god or idol, but the highest bad reputation would be something like a demon, or one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, depending on how you killed the village. when you entered the town, you would be interesting traveler. Shooting a gun or using a tech would make it look like you have god like powers. But if you burn down a bunch houses with chemical weaponry, they will think you have evil powers. but killing people in one village may give you good reputation in another. Here's my chart of reputation. devil-10 ---- demon-9 ---- necromancer-8---- murderer-7---- arsonist-6 ---- evil ninja-5 ---- mad man-4 ---- thief-3 ---- rebel-2 ---- clumsy idiot-1 interesting traveler-0-- helper-1---- worker-2 ---- jailer-3 ---- shaman-4 ---- chieftan-5 ---- hero-6 ---- son of the gods-7 ---- idol-8 ---- god-9 ---- king of gods-10 this is just the tribe reputation. some one needs to make the others.
And people say this game is like Terraria... PFFFT YEAH RIGHT I'm loving this StarBound community Great idea by the way. I'm all in for it!
The thing about this idea is that it would have to be new a new race each time you discover them, or alienated pockets of the races we can already play (which is a really far fetch, they would know someone was to come and get them.) While I'm definetely down with the idea (and voted for it) I think this is more of a pitch for an experienced modder who can simply add community-created races as one of the variables, with due consent. The coding behind it all I imagine would be even harder though. @3@ Also.. sorry for posting in a thread that hasn't seen activity in 3 months but keeping the idea alive is never negative, right?
As much I love the idea, I would rather it be a mod or be worked on after CF releases the game fully (I wouldn't mind paying for it if it was dlc)
No, this doesn't have to be a different race. These would be primitive mobs like ones you see in dungeons, except with proper AI and ability to communicate. Perhaps even randomly generated colors, fur and such. To prove my idea: these are underdeveloped races and thus will not even possibly have access to space.
Seems like too much. Perhaps there should be just a system for structure architecture (that is different material and short variety in design) and a base furniture model with tons of different textures for different races. P.s: And yes I did understand the sarcasm.[DOUBLEPOST=1414153718][/DOUBLEPOST] Perhaps. Perhaps there should be a base model for these races, except with varied clothing and texturing. Same would go for furniture.
This is Starbound, where we have seen that there is more variety to the universe than there are dungeons. We can't have a single design for all the undeveloped races, that's just stupid, not all of them are going to use that design if one's in Sector X and another's in Sector A. Same for the furniture! We have procedurally generated planets and creatures AND BUILDINGS, so why can't we just give these tribes random architecture sets that contain random furniture sets. Before the building is placed, the furniture would acknowledge its ID for type of furniture and ID for pieces allowed. The procedural generator would set to work and its first combination would be the same style for all the types of furniture, and all the furniture throughout the community. The buildings then acknowledge their IDs for type and pieces allowed. Same for the furniture, the procedural generator's first combination sets the style for each and every building in the community. And just like the last two, PROCEDURALLY GENERATED SENTIENTS! Some sort of randomizer will give them a random voice, whether it's the clickety of mandibles or the bubbling of a fish. Then, the race will be generated just like animals and trees are. It's that easy. And, what sarcasm?
Cool idea! Possibly have each in game race able to be at a different stage, or just randomly put together npc's
