Make the ocean big and deep. make it useful to have a boat. also make it hard to get to the bottom of the ocean.... (because otherwize the magic dissaperes). make it JUuuuuust reachable. so when you get air inside an ocean cavern. you feel like you accompliced something. make it so you can build a temporary home there at the bottom. cosy
Would be awesome to have a realistically deep ocean. I mean, the surface is all nice and cozy, it might feel like bathwater and be all nice and blue. But then it starts to get dark a few hundred meters down. You'll need a lamp, Then you encounter the thermocline, and all of the sudden it's really cold. Now you need warming gear. Still further Into this bottomless void, you need pressure suits/submersibles lest your bones implode. Also as you progress deeper, you go from the happy little goldfish to, the miserable, Hellish Anglerfish. That's what creeps me out about the ocean, the knowledge that beneath you is a bottomless, inky void. One with frightening horrors, evil monsters and a place so inhospitable to us bright and naive surface dwellers, that we would be literally crushed into pudding without special equipment.
They have the temperature system right? That's an excellent idea for deeper diving; colder temperatures forcing you to get better equipment before you can go further. And yes! It HAS to be pitch black fully at a certain depth, save for the lights you've brought with you... Nothing scarier than being in complete darkness and turning around to illuminate the giant teeth of a very unfriendly sea monster. Wonderful idea boss.
Yes, yes! I absolutely love this! Amazing idea, I hope they put something like this in the game, where combat is completely different and more difficult underwater.
Would be fun to see an underwater NPC spacefaring civilization, they drown in air, so their ships are filled with water, of course this means that their engines are HUUUGE compared to most ships, but to have other races with different atmospheres, even watery ones, would be neat, and I think add a little to the realism of the game.
It would be cool to see how the water physics work on buildings and things over such a huge scale as an ocean. AND... Boat party anyone?
well.. there will be villages. but i don't know about the dungeons although i would really love to have them in the game!
I realy like this idea, mostly because I can imagine having planets with huge oceans and deep underwater is a cave with a village or maybe having like you said pods where poeple live in or not maybe empty like its not suitable for life. the water planet idea is prety intresting also prety realistic considering there are planets with ice and liquids underneath, the idea has great potential in my eyes. the only downside would be when the ocean's pH isnt neutral.
If this comment does not really see the light of any attention, I will make a whole suggestion topic for it. Given Starbound's pretty awesome water pressure system, it would be really great to see it come into play in a dynamic way, where exposures to extremely high pressures without pressure suits can be lethal, or where even excessively rapid acclimation to pressure can be lethal (maybe even to said pressure suited individuals), giving purpose to airlocks in the deep. When I was watching Tiyuri's video: I just thought it would be so incredibly cool to travel down into the bowels of a deep sea trench wall, perhaps travelling down through some elevator or stairway system to explore from this particular checkpoint, banding together and venting out the airlocks for vacancy, putting on our pressure suits, and slowly acclimating to the pressures of the outside deep, where we would step boldly into the deep dark abyss. on another note Consider the amazingness of varying worlds with their own styles and then seeing their individual takes on deep-sea monstrosities. I think that's really, really cool.
Gr8 idea! There should be special race which lives underwater like Naga from W3 or something We could also have some planets which would have only water "above ground" + only few tiny islands to land on, that would be rly cool I alwats liked island challenges in Minecraft
