In waterfall, the signs say: "The human, afraid of our power, declared war on us. In the end, it could hardly be called a war. United, the human were too powerful, and us monsters, too weak. Not a single SOUL was taken, and countless monsters were turned to dust" So, this IS the human who declared war... and the monsters WAS defenceless. (and that make sense... humans being humans...)
Those signs were one of my favourite things in the game... they give the world more depth as of what the outside was like before the Underground became a thing
We know the monsters have a clear bias towards themselves though, and you must also consider the circumstances. It was discovered that monsters gain strength from human souls. Give one monster a handful, and they could easily become unstoppable. How did they discover this though? A human must've died and the recipient of the soul must've either been observed or done something that gave the humans fear. So it's established that the monsters could easily slaughter humanity if they could kill but few of us. Were the monsters peaceful or aggressive before war broke out? That's unknown. We just know that the humans struck first and the monsters were defeated.
At the "librarby" one of the books speaks of the nature of a monster`s soul... (Dark green bookshelf) * Love, hope, compassion... * This is what people say monster SOULs are made of. * But the absolute nature of “SOUL” is unknown. * After all, humans have proven their SOULs don’t need these things to exist.
Yeah it's good evidence of the bias, Frisk proves em wrong (depending on the ending... but even Undyne realizes not all humans are like Chara on genocide). And some monsters don't exhibit these traits, just like humans. I love this game.
ooh, you ll have a good time! just remember, that game remembers EVERY thing you do, even if you quit without saving to retry
