underground black market?

do you think that there should be an underground black market? you would need to be really observant and pick up on hints to find it, but it would be a cornucopia of rare and expensive items and some of the toughest quests. it could be a large hall or even crashed ship that is underground (lol) that is inhabited by the darkest of types. you could buy strange animals for pets, ores that cant be bought anywhere else (for the right price) and many other items. after spending certain amounts of money at the black market, your buy prices will drop slightly and more experienced and rare traders will set up shop. this may be a repeat, but the vision i have for a "underground black market" is different from all others, i will try to make some pixel art to help show you what i mean.

I love it. I don't know if you've ever played Spelunky, but here is what the black market in that is like:

Maybe in the black market you could buy a scroll (or just a piece of paper) with a quest on it, or a story of a legendary treasure hidden somewhere.. something like that...
maybe there could just be a special recurring npc that you always find in places who sells like 3 really cool things that are different each time you see him. His name could be Mark Noir. And he could have an interesting personality and people would make fan art of him because he is cool and/or funny. Anyway I'd love to see somethin' like this in SB.

 

Wonderful! I love this idea! Perhaps you could also get discounts when you finish quests for the black market. However, I do believe that this is the wrong thread for this. I think that this would go into the suggestions thread. But this idea is marvelous!

This is an extremely good idea! It'd certainly add to the whole concept of "Space Cops and Robbers."
A galaxy-encompassing smuggling corporation would be good as well.

 

and maybe synonymous to Skyrim (and many many others) you would be able to pick a side and have special opportunities not otherwise attainable.

 

Ah yes, in the new mmorpg by Elder scrolls (elder scrolls online) you will also have to take a side, I think there are three to choose from.

But anyways, nice idea, it would give you something to spend your money on.
Although personally I think it should only be for special items, not important gear. I don't really think you should have to spend pixels (the currency) on gear, but getting things like mechs or other vehicles at this black market would be cool.
Oh, and the exotic pets is an EPIC idea.

 

Well there was a black market in a locker at school in Sonic adventure 2 battle. (Still love that game even though I dislike sonic but I am in it for the chao.) So yes. There should be a black market.

 

What kind of goods would these guys potentially sell?

 

the most exotic of pets (pokemon, chosts, baby dragons that stay babies for ever, Guide from Terraria)
the most rare personal items in the universe (condensed particle accelerators, photon emitters, stealth cloak, ancient & prototype armors, watch of relativity)
rare machinery blueprints (laser repeater cannon, singularity launcher cannon, rare prototype mecha blueprints, new more efficient crafting stations)
if chemistry is added, hopefully the underground black market will be the only place to find certain ingredients that cannot be found easily or at all anywhere else.
and also anything else that you could ever imagine, but of course you wont be obtain any of this without dropping an Ipad 3 worth of pixels.

 

I think they'll sell goods at a price that's designed to rip you off -- but they'll sell goods on more of the "exclusive" or "illegal" side of things.

 

I would love this. Especally if you could be involved with the trading, possibly have quest lines that go with it. Maybe even supplying a dealer and getting discounts at the stores and such. This would also work well with special machine parts or ores (as you mentioned). It would be awesome to be able to buy uranium in bulk .

Robbing "space cops" for "special" items and selling them to the dealers sounds like a lovely way to get some serious pixels

 

Maybe some planets would be like cities. Where there would be loads of quests, and some illegal underground trade and stuff.
And maybe you have the choice of joining the police, or becoming a criminal. If you do some illegal stuff, you are wanted on
that planet. And have to be all hush hush about what you do.
