Unbound Travels - Starbound Private RP

I flesh out characters by playing them. =v Creating a massive backstory before you even begin feels like it takes away half the fun of RPing a new character.

Oh well I suppose.

 

A character would only have no back story if you're role playing a newborn infant. Other characters have lives they have lived up to the point the RP begins and are not mannequins during that time.

 

I like to keep the backstory simple and flesh it out as I go and as the character 'speaks' through RP.

 

Character Name: Alan Vayeo
Character Race: Human
Character General Info: 28 years old. Trial-and-error engineer. Loves to hunt, hates to fight. Doesn't care so much for exploring as he does for crafting.
Character Description: 5'9'' tall, with a shaggy brown military haircut and same color eyes. Not a body builder by any means, but of slightly above average fitness. Euro-Spanish descent.
Character Biography: Ex-student of the Earth-Space Naval Academy of Engineering, he flunked out shortly after Earth was destroyed. Alan hates studying, hates sitting at desks, and hates cats. He has a knack for keeping his ship running with minimal replacement parts. His temperament is calm and at times quiet, some might say he's even a bit boring just to be around, but he is an honest soul and as almost never afraid to give a straightforward answer to a question.

Character General Info:
She is 21 years old. Very outgoing, she very much enjoys the company of others, of any species, be it Avian or Apex. Though she is very intelligent, for a Floran, she has an utterly short attention span. Always seems to stay positive, even when things are tough. If you're upset by something, she'll do anything to cheer you up. You could say she's an anti-depressant.

Character Description:
She has long, beautiful silvery green hair. Nice beady eyes that appear to be soothing, despite them being insect like. Dresses like an upper class human, you can say she is very fashionable indeed. Has the average body structure of a Floran, and she's about 5 foot 10 inches. U.C.S.M citizen.


Character Bio:​

The Venarus family, quite an interesting story. Before Earth lay in crumbles, the U.C.S.M had quite a vast Research Facility. One of these Research Projects involved capturing two young Florans, raising them like humans, teaching them their customs, putting them through school and even a university. Then, these two Floran would have children, raise a family, just like a human. This was when the humans knew very little about the Floran people, besides that they seemed very savage, and had unimaginably primitive technology. But they found that Floran were surprisingly human... of at least had high potential of being like one. The only thing that really differed is that these people, were literally walking foliage. So the U.C.S.M wanted to test if the Floran could: live under human environments, adapt to human customs, do well in a human school. The U.C.S.M found that, the Floran could do all of this. The two specimen grew up, and raised their very own family, of two beautiful children. Lielle Venarus, is the daughter of these two Floran test experiments.
Lielle grew up like any human would, she talked like one, ate like one, thought like one. she was a human trapped in a Floran body, but she didn't mind, she loved the thought of being different. She had been a very active being, she'd gone through a university, and had gotten her very own degree in Aviation. Lielle even learned Martial Arts at a young age, so she knew how to handle herself, quite well. She loved flying, she was an adventurer, her dream was to acquire her very own spacecraft and explore the unknown. She eventually had gotten her own spacecraft, which was given to her by the U.C.S.M, (note that the research experiment had still been going on, they'd observe the Venarus family throughout their entire lives) Lielle was finally able to fulfill her dream. So she said goodbye to her loved ones, and she was off. One of the things Lielle was most interested in finding, were savage Florans, she knew little about these people. Lielle went to a Floran occupied Planet to learn about these savages. The savages were so confused, who was this Floran, who dressed like a human, and spoke their tongue with ease? They thought she was a god! She was praised by the savages. In the end, she had to explain to them that she indeed was not a god, but the savages still seem to see her as a superior being, even though she herself didn't see herself as one. She didn't think much of the culture, she saw herself as more a human than Floran.
After her adventures, she decided to return home with the stories she'd learned from her species. When she reached the planet Earth, and realized something was.. off. The planet itself lay in crumbles, and all she could do was cry. Her family. Were they alive? Did they make it off Earth in-time? Or, were they left to die with the planet. No. The U.C.S.M wouldn't let them die, she was sure of it. As of now, Lielle is searching the galaxy, in hopes of finding her loved ones.​

General Info: She is 22 Years old, She can seem rather rude due to her lack of education and her rather cautious nature.. Not easy on trusting anything that isn't in her field of comfort or knowledge. She has great assets in mechanic and Smithing. On the other hand, she finds little value in comfort as her life always revolved around efficency.

Character Description: Standing at an average height for a human of 165 centimeter, she has red long red hair and pale skin, minor burn bruises on her arms due to minor work accidents. While not being the prettiest around she easily melds in the average crowd.

Character Biography: She is quite the average human being that didn't grow up without proper education. Her youth could be described as having to use a screwdriver as a rattle toy.. Growing up at home with her mechanic parents, she quickly followed their profession path. Once she reached adult age, her choice of leaving the family to go work at a very distant foundry was quite easy as she did not have many aquintances where she used to live. As she worked she lived off very little, a place to sleep, a few meals to keep herself alive is all she needed. Saving every small bit of currency until reaching her childhood dream of getting her own ship. Unfortunately it is but a mere torn apart ship. Being careless at the time, she left her job to become a freelance mechanic. She roams around in space trying to find new contacts, trying to expand the number of contracts she gets.

 

Character Name: Randy Gosling
Character Race: Human
Character General Info: Age: 20s, Randy is a joker, and a rather good mechanic. Able to easily repair his ship when it breaks down, and is even able to reprogram non-sentient glitch.
Character Description: At glance Randy appears to be your run of the mill Adventurer, with green eyes, and messy hair. He's a skinny guy, but not really the healthiest, as he tends to eat quite a bit of space-burgers. http://wesleyanargus.com/media/photo/13115__330__.jpg
Character Biography: "Avian fasion is so 2033!" Growing up in less known Alpha Horsebutt nebula in a small city, Randy looked at everyone and realized how normal everyone was. This disgusted him, and made him decide that he'd much rather break the norm. After finishing school and graduating from the local tech institute. Randy spent all his money on a cheap ship and flew off without word. After a couple of days of traveling Randy ran out of fuel, and was forced to land. He explored the planet, finding a glitch kingdom. Tired of being alone, he decided to kidnap a glitch that was wandering around the outskirts of the city and reprogrammed him. Now Randy and his now sentient glitch friend roam the stars breaking the mainstream.

 

Character Name: Bulb Ender

Character Race: Floran

Character Age: 25

Character General Info: Bulb is home to a peaceful people known not to the cultures who sail the infinite sea at whim. His culture is fond of the notion that each ones work should better the whole. In this, upon reaching adulthood every Floran of this sect chooses the life it will lead from then on. Bulb did not agree with such a life. He could not choose, but he must and so he did. At the time of his adulthood seremony he requested to create his own nursery sprouting new life. In this he was named Bulb. Many years he worked in servitude and solitude for his people, many years wanting more from his destiny. One day a traveling man fell from the sky in great craft. Injured the traveler wandered and found the Floran capital of Bulbs homeworld. He requested aid from the Floran and being peaceful they abliged. Soon after the stranger left to begin work on his star craft, disease and pestilence harvested the souls of Bulbs people. Bulb felt this culling in the worlds veins and knew his time had come. With haste he gathered his tools and set off for the craft. In the dead of night, he found the man making final repairs to the craft and swiftly put him to death. Bathed in the blood of the traveler, Bulb had become justice incarnate for his people, a people he could never return to. Strangely Bulb never became ill from his encounter, perhaps his destiny could not end here, perhaps it was the blood. None the less there was nothing left for Bulb so he titled himself Ender and set off to sail the great void.

Character Description: Bulbs most predominant feature is that of the unflowered bulb sprouting from his mind vine and with a sleek physique common in most Floran, he stands always ready for combat so that he may defend his destiny as well as his fibers.

Character Biography: "My world has perished, do not lessen me or so will yours." Peaceful in nature, Bulb remembers the atrocity of his planet all too well. He values life but is not afraid to end it.

 

Chatacter Name: T-1 TobaggiN
Character Race: Glitch
Character General Information: T-1 is rather active and prefers to stay moving. He is also a rather destructive, and spends a lot of time killing creatures, and destroying planets for the sake of just staying active.
Character Description: He has a black glitch body with many scratches and dents. His eyes are a dark purple and the top of his head has a large white sphere on top of it.
Character Biography: T-1 was programmed by a human named Randy Gosling. Although he was made sentient he had all of his memory erased with the exception of a few things. One of these was his name which was corrupted which gave his T-1 Tobaggin. After he spoke his name for the first time, he decided to move and never stop paving the way for grand adventures through the vast space.

Character General Info:

He is a rather cold hearted and selfish being. He deems violence necessary in most occasions, so long it's thought out and premeditated before it's inflicted. William tends to portray himself as the person he prefers himself to be, a high and pompous (and powerful) being.
Though having an independent, stubborn, and cold personality, he does enjoy having few loyal mates to venture and tag along with him and his adventures; and if his mates are loyal and/or kind to him, he'd return likewise. William has a mildly strong hate towards avians (due to past experiences that will be explained in the Biography), Once in the area of an avian he immediately becomes rather hostile towards it, making remarks or possibly harming it.

Character Description:

Rather in his early 30's, pale white skin with hazel eyes. He's about 1.7526 meters tall with a toned body. He has a shoulder length side swept hair with a pearl white color. he prefers to wear his normal scarf and coat, though he's always ready to throw on a chest plate and unsheathe a gun or sword when needed. He occasionally stands with a proud expression, showing himself to be a high and pompous being.

Character Biography:

William A. Thatcher was born and raised on a colony planet that was colonized by humans alike. Since he was a child he always pondered the stars, craving for some sort of adventure. He'd always run off with a mate or two with wooden swords or sticks into the forests, creating imaginary adventures, pretending to find new planets and meet new creatures and people. Though, around his young adult age area, Avian ships arrived at the planet, orbiting, planning.. as hours passed, the ships flew closer to the cities of the planet; dropping avian crusaders and warriors, inflicting violence and murder all in the name of their religion, purging the unworthy so they could gain access to their nirvana. William, lucky to survive, and a few other survivors fled the planet, in an old civilian ship, in search of a new home; forever tainted with the hatred towards avians. Years and years past, the cycle of finding a new home and having it destroyed repeats itself, survivors getting picked off by the claws of a creature or at the bullet of their own gun.. William was left alone in his only token that represents his ruined home.. the ship. William A. Thatcher now stands at his early 30's, traveling at light speed to a planet with the last few drops of fuel left, soon to be left orbiting a planet with no fuel, no food, few tools...

Character General Info: 19 Years old, slightly aggressive, trusts money more than people, will kill for a pixel

Character Biography: Born into a small family as the third son of a metal worker on an outer arm forge world. Coop decided his life wasnt going to end as pathetically as his father's, after saving up for a small ship and some fuel he set out for fame, and fortune ANY way possible.

His survival was mostly because be was lucky, most of the damage was his right eye and under, as an extra detail he also had a minor concussion, and woke up an hour to two after the crash.

Okie, I guess I should improve, so here goes a second attempt.
Name: Vyrus Teck
Race: Glitch
Character General Info: A 25 year old glitch, prepared to fight. He sometimes spaces out and lashes out in random outbursts of anger, but he's normally a great guy. Good pilot, a bit of a merchant from where he comes from, and knows when to step in to defend his friend or ally.
Character Description: As said before, 25 years old, and wears a bat ear like attachment on his head. Black paint job, red eyes, and black clothes. Likes the color black for security reasons.
Character Biography: When he was created, he was programmed to be a merchant, so he lived happily, until the glitch and he achieved sentience. When an unknown enemy attacked his land, he secretly boarded a ship and flew off, leaving his planet and his people behind. For the last ten years, he's been a sort of gun for hire, as well as a merchant. When he was about 20, though, he had his first taste of real action. Some Hylotl hired him to do some protection of a package from a squad of armed men. What they decided to leave out was that the men had high caliber sniper rifles and pistols, so Vyrus had to do some quick thinking, and shot the leader in the leg. The rest of the fight was basically loud sounds and screaming, but he got out of it alive. Now he is a traveling merchant, willing to defend himself with a gun or sword, if the case may be.

 

Character Name: Karkorus Nova-Hunter
Character Race: Glitch
Character General Info: He is quiet and unnerving in nature and is not hesitant about combat. He finds a day some-what wasted without bloodshed and feels that "One has not lived until he has killed!" He finds Hylotls and florans highly amusing but highly annoying at he same time. He speaks of himself as somewhat of a god feeling all others, unless proven are unworthy of his attention and will kill them if they hold him up. He came to be by the blacksmith of high castle in the times of old. Though he was respectful as a youngling he was sentenced to death for several murders and proceeded to kill his accuser, his judge and his maker the latter for unknown reasons. He then proceeded through the galaxy killing well know novakid "Starforge" for beeting him in an arm wrestle thus the name Nova-Hunter. Most think he's mad and to be honest he dosent know himself becoming a hazard to himself, dismantling himself and putting himself back together. Although he is cruel and lonely he had a love, Zeta Otara an avian barmaid who to his dismay was murdered by the very same who gave him his name.....

Character Name: Alicia Summers

Character Race: Human

Character General Info: Alicia is a scientific nut that went down the science tree of alchemy, deciding to see what plants do from other planets. Because of her experimental nature to herself, Alicia is un-naturally strong, although not the strongest human ever. The strongest part of her body, however, would be her mechanical arm, which can lift quite a bit, and also morph into different tools and short weapons. There are many alterations to her body, mostly because of her alchemy potions she has tested on herself, which also had a part in throwing her off into insanity.

Character Description: Alicia, standing at five feet and six inches tall. Her hair is a crimson red, and it curls down to her mid back. Her eyes are green, with the gaze to kill. Her face is thin and well structured. Her teeth have all been turned to jagged fangs with no lips and a smile from ear to ear because of alchemy testing, so when she smiles, or an example, Mileena from Mortal Kombat. . She wears a gray trench coat with a high collar, but only goes up to her chin. Around her coat there is a belt with many small bags, as well as a sash across her chest with pouches. She wears black dress pants that are a bit baggy, and a pair of dark brown steel-toed boots. She wears black fingerless gloves and her left sleeve goes down to her wrist, while she has no right sleeve, as her right arm is mechanical. The frame on the arm is full, and not skeletal like, but the arm is not painted in any way, so it's still it's silver hue. Also, wrapped around her left arm has a thin, long chain coiling up it, although it does not restrict her movements. She also wears a matching mask over her mouth.

Character Biography: The world of Laoni, a crazy place, but some wouldn't say it's as crazy as one individual. People aren't born crazy, they are shaped by the world around them, as the Celdorian has been molded from the age of nine. It all began in a science class, as the young Alicia was messing with the many ingredients infront of her. The class was supposed to be learning about dangerous chemicals that were highly flammable and explosive, which she already knew about because her mother and father were scientists and alchemists themselves. Before she picked up a flask, the child next to her did a mistake, and caught the room on fire. The fire was to strong for the sprinklers, as it quickly spread, causing a chain of fires to trap other students away from her, and herself from the door. Alicia, seeing the closet door open, quickly went inside thinking it was probably the safest place for her to be, and closed the door, inside the full metal closet, ignoring the heat that built up in there, as she heard the screams of all her friends pierce through her ears, and her mind.

A few years after dropping out of school from trauma and the dangers of curious teenagers, the thirteen year old girl went on a camping trip with her parents to the Iron Mountains to get away from the pollution from Celdori, ever since they started to use the different types of fuels, smog and pollution has been prominent. The family finally reached their destination, as they heard a weird crackling noise, and then, a large void beast came out from the mountain. The father yelled for the mother and Alicia to run. As Alicia was frozen in terror, her mother picked her up, not noticing the direction of which her daughter was facing, as the young Celdorian saw her father maimed, ripped and devoured. The monster picked up the sword of the fallen soldier and started to use it to pick at his teeth, letting the other two get away, his hunger seeming to be sated.

Years passed, the girl turning into a young adult at the age of seventeen. She met someone, a young man who has lost his friends and father, although in a different manner of course. It was someone she could relate to and talk to about it all, someone that she can connect with. The lover decided to go to a trip to Prandra, and the girl eagerly agreed. They were on the road to Prandra for a few days, as the city could be seen in the horizon. As they got closer, the man and the girl were ambushed by bandits. The lover tried to defend her loved one, but seen fell, and as the girl tried to defend herself, and blocked the image of the loved one being killed. As they saw her to much of a problem, they slashed, but ended up cutting off her right arm. As the girls vision faded, she heard more fighting, and then the vision went dark. She woke up, surprised to still be alive, and inside of Pranda's hospital. She looked over, and saw the mechanical arm, for which would forever remind her of this day.

Two more years past, as the girl now knelt by her mothers side. She promised to help her, and to make her better, just like how their father would be able to do. She studied, and mixed and made concoctions, in desperate attempt to save her last slither of hope. Sleepless nights and then she held the formula up, smiled as she quickly went over to her mother. She gave it to her, and waited. The mother died, twenty minutes later. The girl, was just minutes to late. She cried for the last time, now having no one to share her despair with. She promised to leave no combination unmixed, and will always have a formula, for everything, even if it caused the price of others fortune. The girl went missing, as well as her fathers revolvers and her mothers coat.

Eleven years passed since the girl went missing. Ever since she went missing, there have been reports of kidnappings, but no trace of a ransom note or anything. The girl, was seen once more, wearing her mothers coat, testing on the missing persons with no mercy, and not caring if they died from her experiments, killing them in cold blood to expand her research. The psychotic fire in her eyes blazing, as nothing stopped her, even going as far as to test some of the potions on herself, driving her sanity off the rails.

Eventually the town gave into the demands of the crazy alchemist, not able to execute her, not even able to imprison her, or keep her in there for to long. They finally gave her a ship to travel among the stars, to get rid of her and keep their people safe, even giving her navigation tools to know where she was even going, so she wouldn't come back there.. She now explores the galaxy, studying plants and alchemy in the stars, so that she may keep with her internal goal of not leaving anything unmixed or untested.
