Character Biography: Not much is known of this man, he does not have any history as far as people know in this galaxy, and he says that he is from "Another galaxy or realm." Most think he is just some guy trying to make it big, making a fake story for himself, but others say he is the real thing, that he may be from another galaxy or universe. Whoever he is he enjoys going about his business and getting into adventures. He is known to be a competent swordsman, skilled to the point beyond mastery, and his sword seems very precious to him, he does not part with it so easily. This is all that is known of this man from public records.

No way to get around the 'If someone randomly decides to attack/rob you for no reason you have to respond' bit is there?

 

I'd think/hope that the RP here follows the basic rules of consent, where if you don't consent on something happening to your character, it doesn't happen. I would expect at least that much respect from my fellow roleplayers.

 

We go by consent rules. But we do try to get everyone to respond appropriately, feel free to void any god emotes however.

I just have some issues with certain rules. I don't PvP. Ever. Period. I want to join the server because I enjoy RP, but if I have to acknowledge that someone wants to PvP with me, I'll go play on another one.

I'm assuming that to be on someone's ship you have to be in a party with them, right? So what if someone's RPing as being helpful and whatnot and when you get back to your ship they start going through your stuff. How do you handle that? You can't really be like "No stop" because you can't get someone off of your ship. Even DCing won't stop it because your ship stays loaded.

So say I'm just hanging out on a random planet doing my thing. I say I'm bored OoCly and would like someone to come RP with me. They show up and start trying to PvP with me and rob me. What do I do? Am I just supposed to allow this or...? I know you guys are talking about consent, but if I'm not supposed to ignore this, by RPing with the guy I'm validating his attempt to rob me. Which I don't want to do because I don't want to get robbed.

So say you're handling a duel through RP. You get a bad dice roll and the guy decides to kill you. For detail let's say you've been fighting for a while and he shoots you in the neck. Like... your character just died because of a bad die roll? I dunno, that seems... far too random. I understand that real life is random and can suck, but in a game where you're trying to craft a story and have fun that just seems contrary to the goal.

I'm not trying to make trouble or anything, I just have concerns. If the rules have to be followed then that's totally fine and I wish you guys luck, the server's just not for me. But I don't want to have to join and then go off and be alone forever so that someone can't randomly decide to rob me blind and I have to go with it.

 

Nah, feel free to question our rules. Halcyon posted them so they still need a little bit of ironing out.

1. Just be extra careful who you're inviting to your ship, we unfortunately have no tools at the moment to stop them stealing your stuff OOCly, but you should be able to deal with them IC.

2. I don't agree with this rule actually, feel free to void that one for now, I'll take it up with Halcyon later.

3. We're pretty lenient when it comes to permadeath. Also it's up to you if you want to dice roll fight, you can just use pure emote fights. If you feel your character has died unfairly take it up with one of the admins/mods and we'll sort it out for you!

 

I don't suppose you can accept me or not, huh? The earlier admin said I was fine... except for the "Earth" part. He misinterpreted it as Earth, instead of the word for earth.

Extremely WIP Because Reasons
Character Name: Slywyn (Because I'm creative)
Character Race: Glitch
Character General Info: I honestly don't know a lot yet. They're a Glitch, they're Self Aware, and they enjoy exploring and adventuring.
Character Description: They look like a robot. They're black(or grey, haven't decided yet), with 'hair', but normally wears armor that hides it.
Character Biography: She became self aware but didn't really understand what that meant. She began to attempt to improve her life, little things at first that slowly snowballed as she learned and experimented, until she was discovered and run off. She was smuggled off-planet by a self-aware Glitch remaining behind to help other self-awares escape. She ended up with a ship due to... I don't know yet and has been exploring and learning and building ever since.

 

I'll drop this here, I'm not sure when I'll get around to signing on if I'm accepted, but I like your efforts at catering to a mature group of Roleplayers.

Character Name: Vitor "Felonious" Titous
Character Race: Apex
Character General Info: A 24 year old Apex, Vitor, more commonly "Felonious T." is a calm, loose and friendly Apex. He enjoys music, particularly the Saxophone and human "Jazz".
Character Description: Dark haired and dressing loosely, he enjoys wearing hats. When the need arises, he is more than willing to wear garb common throughout the Apex Insurrection. He is small for an Apex, and particularly hairy for one as well.
Character Biography: The son of a prominent Miniknog scientist, Vitor lived a life of relative comfort compared to his oppressed siblings. While moving to a new world for his father's research, his ship was intercepted by rebels, who took him hostage. Eventually, Vitor saw first hand the oppression of the Apex and began aiding the rebels in their efforts. He took on the personality of "Felonious T." to broadcast music and elicit radio communications to civilians and other rebel cells. When his broadcasting station was raided, he stole the uniform of one of the Miniknog officers and escaped on an empty science ship being towed by the control force. Regretful that he couldn't help any of his fellow rebels escape, Felonious T. seeks a new set of clothes, and a saxophone so he can begin undermining Miniknog again.

 

Character Name: Daisuke Renjiin (Dai)
Character Race: Human
Character General Info: Daisuke is a thirty-six year old man with the drive and ambition of a reckless youth. Life is only valuable through hardship and suffering. Since the fall of Earth, he has wandered, a vagrant among the stars, in search of a future for himself. What he lacks in intellect, he more than makes up for with courage, finesse, and a blade that could rend the fabric of time.
Character Description: Dai is rather tall for a human, and has a generally athletic build. His eyes are a variant of hazel, perhaps slightly more green. His hair is black, wild, and left loosely draped along his shoulders and back.
Character Biography: As a youth, all that I understood was the sword. I believed my training and skill would take me anywhere that I needed to go, and my abilities would overcome all obstacles that would deny me my legendary fate. There is a sweltering hatred that festers inside my very soul, and I seek to unleash it on the defiler of my home. My life is gone, with Earth, as dust in the wind. I will have my vengeance. Who would have guessed that all of my training could bring me here? I suppose it will have to take me beyond the end, as well. Stranded in the abysmal reaches of deep space, and within my own mind, I set out in search of a future worth a final duel. To the victor go the spoils.

Character Name: Violet Lovewall

Character Race: Human

Character General Info: 23 years of age, Human, goes by the name of Violet Lovewall. Tends to be referred to by friends as simply "Lovewall". A fairly intelligent scientist with various qualifications and a PhD in engineering.

Character Description: Standing at around 5'7", Violet is a fair skinned human with blonde hair and hazel eyes. She has a lithe build as a result of the physical intensity of a life spent traversing the raw natural forms of untouched worlds. She has a friendly, empathetic personality when dealing with other people, but tends to have a distinct underlying dislike for Florans, perhaps due to their spotty and violent history. She finds the nature and intelligence of the Apex astounding and looks to learn from their technology.
Violet is also an avid reader and is well versed in both classical and modern forms of literature. A bit of a nerd at heart, Violet has a soft spot for Fantasy novels.


Character Biography: Violet Lovewall was a native resident of Earth, hailing from the UK as a child of a father whom worked as a senior starship engineer and a mother who used to be a doctor before becoming a housewife. As a child of a fairly rich family she received a high end education in a privileged school. At a young age she took a liking to the complexity and intricacies of machines, especially those used in the ships that many earthlings used. Taking after her father, she left home at 18 to enrol at a prestigious University in the US.
Violet left University at 23 with a PhD in Engineering, specialising in the construction and installation of FTL drives. Her dream was to take to the stars and find new and distant worlds, utilising the FTL technology that she had learned so much about in an attempt to develop more advanced technologies to bring back home to her people. She is a scientist and a tinkerer at heart and can be found working on various projects and construction tasks in the name of science and personal enjoyment.

 

My friend was having this issue connecting to my server when I didn't even have a password set. Turns out he was able to connect when using the OpenGL client, but not the regular client. Try that and see if it works.

Character Name: Jhon Rowzek
Character Race: Human
Character General Info: Age - 28, Scholar, scientist, fascinated with firearms. He loves science, and could only be forced away from it. However, he has some skill in firearms, and slightly less in the still widely-used swords, spears, and axes that are commonplace in many Glich places, as well as rampant penal colonies. He is bright, but he is also unorderly and a bit messy.
Character Description: He is 6ft 3in, he has a dark brown beard, and his hair is the same dark brown color. He wears his hair in whatever style its in when he wakes up. He would wear a labcoat if he could find one, just for old times, and possibly new ones. Right now, he wears a jacket and some jeans/sweat pants. His eyes are dark brown.
Character Biography:
He was a scholar on a human colony planet, distant from Earth. It was a small colony, and it was found by space pirates. They took everything, and killed 10% of the small population to do it.(100 or so, it was more of a scientific study post than a colony)
Jhon had been born a scientist. Well, born into a family of them. He was trained in all major branches of science, but he had also been the only scientist with weapons training. He tried to defend his colleagues but he wasn't strong enough. He was badly injured, and, as retribution, the pirates killed every scientist in the building Jhon was in (30-40 of the brightest minds the Colony had to offer) He was only spared because on of the few remaining militiamen from the colony dragged him to the medical bay, where he was healed, then sent offworld in a ship, called The Scientist with ten others. They headed for Earth, but they heard from many refugee ships that something had happened, an invasion, some said. Some said a black hole. Some said War. Nobody knew for sure. They just wanted out with their lives. So, he set course for a random planet among the stars. However, en-route he was stopped by a USCM Patrol where they were all drafted into service. His ship was taken, as were all of his belongings. He was forced to go through ruthless training on a moon base in a system he didn't know the name of. For eleven long months, he trained. Then, he graduated, not with flying colors, both because he was a scientist, ad not built for this kind of thing, but also because he was essentially a conscript and had no business in the military. The other ten were in much the same situation, except one, who was the son of a security guard at the lab. Jhon graduated as a Private First Class, and was given his ship, and sent to "Go find out what happened to Earth, you worthless boffin of a recruit.". Naturally, since he was conscripted, he decided to not go through with this suicide mission. He just left and resumed travel to the random planet he found. He was not listed as AWOL, because everybody expected him to die doing something on Earth, or near it. So, he retained his strangely obtained rank in the USCM and went on his merry way to explore the stars, and find a new home, with less pirates and USCM Conscription Agents.
