Closed Unable to reach planet surface via teleport

I am going on the record here as this is not a report from my own rig but for my room mate who's having this issue when playing on his.

He keeps using the teleport to surface but winds back up on his ship seconds later, he's tried waiting 10 minuets or so and trying as was suggested to someone else with no effect. So far what seems to work is multiplayer at the current version of the game. I'll see if I can get him to get the starbound.log file together for this thread.

A simple forum search would have revealed hundreds of reports of this, almost all of them immediately answered by "wait for the planet to finish loading". This is not the optimization stage. This will be fixed later.

 

As stated in the first post. I have tried waiting up to 10 min. to give it plenty of time for the planet and anything else to finish loading. I then tried to teleport and still did not reach the surface. With multiple attempts.

 

You do have to actually poke it once every thirty seconds or so, or else it's just going to unload the planet to save memory.

 

also certain character movements/ held items and so forth seem to be able to allow the game just enough memory to let you pop down, I suggest no items on hot bar/armor and falling down when you press the button
