Closed Unable to play unstable

I'm not sure if there's a thread about this, but if there is, forgive me for reposting it.

Can't play starbound when I try to play unstable

Steam just mentioned "Failed to start game (unknown error)". Is there anyway to solve this problem?

 

so, to clarify you need to run either Starbound.exe or Starbound_openGL.exe under

Code:

...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\win32\ 
usually: 
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\win32\ 
or 
C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\win32\ 

...depending on your operating system and whether you changed Steam's installation path.

I've had better luck with the openGL version on my new AMD system, and better luck with the standard (Direct3D? DirectDraw?) version on my old Nvidia system.

...you can actually run it like that from the steam client if you want, by using "Games -> add a non-steam game to my library" and pointing it at one of those .exe files.
