I was playing the GOG version of Stardew Valley. Problem is, to connect to my friends playing on Steam I needed to use Hamachi and use their IP. One of them is currently on a different internet for a short time and Hamachi isn't working with certain ports or something, so I downloaded the Steam version. Problem is, the Steam version says there are No Empty Slots. Now, I have the correct invite code but for some reason I cannot just join. The three of us already played 3 entire years and I unintalled my GOG installation to save space but now I'm afraid we have a character who's just gone. For some reason either of the other players can select any of the three characters, but in order to try and subvert this the server owner built a 4th cabin. I connected via Steam, made a character, exited, tried to re-enter to select my old character, and he's not available. I can't fathom what is stopping me from picking my GOG-made character. It's not like I used a specific Steam account, I'm only doing that now but one of the other players playing on Steam can select any character she wants. Right now we're trying to fiddle with the UniquePlayerID tag but if there's a simple or easy fix we just haven't figured out please tell me.
