There's no such thing as taking a break from cats, Cup o' Tea. They are omniscient.

I've had many many cats (mostly as a kid, my mom was a crazy cat lady) and they were real characters. I had a cat like Relten's who would put knock down everything on the edge of the tub and sleep under the faucet surrounded by razors (covered with guards), shampoo, soap bars. lolol
I had a kitten who slept in the toes of my shoes.

 

It's funny how each cat has their own personality and style of solving a problem...

As for the crazy cat family...

I have 5 cats....I have no idea why I decided to have a bunch of cats around my house...but I do.

 

I can't blame you, really. They can help to keep you from being lonely!
Cats aren't completely a replacement for human interaction, but humans are NEVER a replacement for cat interaction. I could see myself having three cats at the most, were I alone. But I think I'll be good with one.
When I was a kid, I think we had 12-15 cats at one point (a couple mommas had a couple litters and my mother refused to get them fixed or give the kittens away.) It was insanity. Adorable fuzzy insanity.
