Closed Uh soo my account is gone after a crash! Please Help!

My roommate and I were playing and our surge protector reset and shut our computers down, when i reopened steam, StarBound was re-downloading the game, when i launched the game my account which i spent a lot of hours playing is just gone! Anyone know why this happened? Im gonna be soooo super bummed if my character is completely gone!

 

Yeah your data is lost because of the update this could happen more in beta stage 1.

 

The latest update wiped all old characters intentionally (probably due to so many changes). And your Steam client was downloading the patch which was released earlier today.

You'll have to start again sadly, but it's a beta after all.

 

It would have been gone regardless., the save format in the new update pushed today is incompatible with the previous versions.

 

Thats extremely frustrating i had a lot of stuff and i had my home base super customized and hella nice gear i was just getting to the meat of the fun and boom now i gotta start over, might go back to Payday 2 for a bit

 

Hmmmm. A handful of people are having "power outages" before they notice the character wipe. I'm not claiming anything, but someone out there thinks they need an excuse to post about losing characters.

Nah i had my heater plugged in and it did in fact shut both our comps down, i spent 15 bucks on the game if i log in and my character is gone, i dont need to make up and excuse to justify it!

 

Alright.

But keep an eye out for power outages and character wipe posts.

 

Or wait for stage 2 if you don't like to lose your char.

 

nah i understand was just wondering what happened lol. I'll keep an eye out i dont doubt that people make up stuff!

 

This is a Beta, so of course there are going to be char wipes. The game isn't finished enough to keep data.
