I'm currently trying to make a mod where I make some monsters, then capture half and have the other half roam around like livestock. Problem is, they despawn if I close the game, and they can't be captured. My current creature uses the chicken's behavior files found in "monsters/unique/chicken.", so all it does is wander around. This is all I want for its actions, both wild and captured. Persistence: I checked out TCG's Chicken Clones mod by Camitre, as it claimed to solve the problem for persistent spawned creatures. Looking through the files, he has a single behavior file with almost nothing in it: I tried applying this to my custom creature's behavior file, but I could not figure out where to insert these parameters. So, I tried just copying the file to my own file's folders. This didn't work, as the summoned creature despawned on logging out, but also was invincible and did not move. Capture: Using Cactuar's "Craftable Bunny that can be captured!" mod as a reference, I tried editing my monster's .monstertype file to match the bunny. I also moved the .behavior file away from the mod folder, as the bunny uses scripts from the main game. This proved futile, as it had the same error as above; invincible and non-moving. I then tried to just copy all the files used by Cactuar's mod and change the name from bunny to, for example, slime, but this proved even worse. The creature spawns, jumps wildly, and when captured, the game crashes. Coming back into the game lets me loot the capture pod, but the captured creature does not do anything except stand still. It's considered a pet now, but it crashes the game again if I try to recapture it. I'm no pro at coding, I'll admit. I've been at this for several hours, and the log isn't even giving me any errors at all when I try to do this, so I can't post anything other than what I've said. How can I just make a persistent, capture-ready beast?
I have no information whatsover that might help, but you could check out the Dog and Po files, those are both persistent when wild and capturable.
Well crap, I copied the dog's stuff (pinfriend? What kind of name is that?), and it worked. I didn't even know there were dogs since I took a long break. Now to make them not useless in fights. Thanks for the help!
