That's a very interesting building. It's something I'd try and base a building off. If you improve upon it, please post!

This is what I got so far on my under water base. I decided to dig down from the island I spawned on.

First off, I dig your usage of the diff. metal materials. The sides are teh purrdy!
Second: Mind sharing a bit about the wiring? I mean, I just tried myself to build an airlock - using proximity switches and the obvious liquid detector I don't see the need for something as.. confusingly complicated as your build. But, color me curious, I want to know why you did it the way you did. So in any case, thanks for sharing. :D

    [Edit]
Since the animated GIF image is about 8 MiB, I thought I could at least share my test-sub. ;)

So, some sort of combination of the mods I have, the update from today, and messing around with StarCheat/admin commands my universe got wiped.

I had built on so much to the base I posted above, a sweet dome building to grow plants, a pretty huge lab, a restroom... and now I have to start again. :(

try the windows previous file version feature. right click on the files, preferences and look for something like "previous file versions" or similar.

Well I appreciate but I've already given it up. I'm not really sentimental when it comes to things like this, plus the game is still in beta, this stuff happens.

Now I'm going to challenge myself by rebuilding my base on a frozen, magma or poison ocean planet.

Just saw this for the first time, and it is incredibly informative. I was just trying to see if I could do it a few days back, but didn't spend more than an hour or two toying with the idea. Glad to see a comprehensive guide on it.

    Much, much appreciated!

The way I did it is (almost) fool proof. The inner door won't open unless the room is completely drained, and while to outer door is open, the drains are inactive so the room can completely fill up.
The only problem is that the sensors remain active for too long, stopping them from triggering if a second person is right behind you.
Also, the top-left switch is basically an override that holds both doors open, and keeps the drains on.

Me and my friends are going to build one.
It's good to take some advices and see what's possible.

    Thanks

I would be really happy if we could just use the seen pipe system to create a waterfall or a fountain. I know that this is a bit off-topic but anybody has an idea on how to create a waterfall or fountain system on the ground?
