    Sadly I can't reproduce your situation @SeaJay, I don't understand the Sorcery I do.
and @throwscats, thanks for trying out too.

First I build my self in:
    starbound_2a.png

Secondly I remove the top part first (as you can see above), so I can get rid of the water I was standing in:
    starbound_2b.png

And done, This time on the left side, maybe because of game dynamic, but alas it doesn't matter:
    starbound_2c.png

Lets then make the hallway wider, but still no leakage:
    starbound_2d.png

Maybe a higher ceiling then, sadly still the same result.

I even removed the fifth block. it started to spill over the 4 high wall. Plugged it quickly back to a 4 high opening and it settled down to 4 high water with some mopping up on the next isle.

Even when I have double walls, I still get the same result.

    Well I'm officially stumped.

OP updated (as I said I would a few days ago), thanks a lot guys for submitting your replies!

I just use a vertical entry way
    [IMG]
As long as the outer door is closed, there's no water pressure to push up into the dry area (although, I find there's somehow no water pressure in the ocean anyway?)

I like your building design and use of blocks, looks good despite the lack of furnishings! I added your post into the OP and credited you in it, if you don't mind? :)

Thanks I was actually wondering if those water pressure mechanics were removed or not.
I was too lazy to test it my self.

It looks like normal water has pressure while infinite water only generates water.
It might be possible that if you make the diving bell and have normal water above the dry zone(outside the bell) the normal water will pressure the water under the bell to flood in.

If you put windows in your sealab, paint the background glass blue if you want a cheerful atmosphere. It will look like there's water on the other side.

Don't paint it if you want the heavy atmosphere of being in the lightless (at night) bottom of the ocean.

Holy crap - the "setspawnpoint" command alone is worth three likes. At least! ;)

Awesome thread. I'm guessing in that air lock gif, that's a drain at the bottom?

Very solid tutorial, great job. But to give some encouragement to all: know that ChuckleFish is tracking this issue and pumps are going to be added to make life even simpler.[DOUBLEPOST=1423748654][/DOUBLEPOST]
Genius, link two doors to an or gate and have a sensor with a drain pipe. Should be doable with pressure plates or sensors to activate the doors too in order to make the process fully automatic I believe. Maybe make the airlock a tad larger but I think it should be doable.

I've got a small area where I guess I wrecked the infinite ocean water, which would be fine, except that water also drains out the background. Like if I place a tile in the water, it'll instantly get a little pocket of air and falling water below it instead of the water just staying there. Also I can't place water

Anybody have any experience with this or know of a solution? Even in admin mode I can't seem to spawn "ocean."

I'm sure the water pressure was different in the first unstable in December. This is an airlock with no drains that works just fine:

    http://community.playstarbound.com/...-research-and-mining-base.87797/#post-2353569

But when I first tried it I couldn't open both doors at the same time because the base would flood. Now, in stable, that doesn't happen everywhere.

It seems (I'm not sure) that if the water only have pressure when it's in an area that was never an ocean. So in the example above the entrance is under the bottom of the ocean and water has pressure. But if I made the same design above the ocean floor, the water wouldn't come in.

That is strange. Water never flows to the background if you are underground. Is this area near the surface of the planet?

If you want to place water you'll need a background wall.

Thanks for the kind words, folks! I don't want to take all the credit though, I borrowed from a few people on the forums who really deserve all the thanks for thinking of things that I couldn't. Thanks to each and every one of you! We can keep the tutorial growing, if people are willing to contribute their expertise. You will be credited in the OP if you do.[DOUBLEPOST=1423791174][/DOUBLEPOST]
I've seen it happen before. When I was trying out my first underwater base, I was on a radiated planet, and right near the floating island I was working off, I started creating an airtight descending pipe to the ocean floor, and when I mined away thinking it was complete, the side closest to the island itself started draining out to the background.

Underwater bases are really cool. I'm sure this tutorial will be really appreciated.

And here is my contribution: when you fill the ocean with blocks to dry an area, you can "forget" to fill a block or two and they will keep generating water forever. This can be used to make water sources inside a dry area. You can use them to flood airlocks without taking the water from the ocean, to make a fountain or waterfalls. But you'll need some drains to keep it under control. :)

Notice the glass to the right isolating this area from the ocean. The water in the waterfall comes from "water sources" on top of it.

When you are close to the surface the water flows to the background. Even if you are underwater it seems...
