Hey, guys, so you just got this gorgeous game! After many hours of Steam not letting you download the damn thing, you've finally got into the game. And you have no idea on what to do o_O ...... and you feel bad because you don't know what to do . DON'T WORRY! We all were like that! So I'm here, to help you guys. Well, help you with what I know, and as far as I've gotten.

Step 1: THIS is your lovely interface. You'll become very well acquainted with this, because of the crashes ( It's a beta, I know. Just saying ) [IMG]

Here I've outlined some of the crap you'll need to know.

And down here is where I outline the things that aren't important for the novice user.

    • Premium servers: This is more of a one time thing. This is where you can say whether you'd like Multiplay to have Starbound as one of the games you can rent a server for. Not for the guy who just booted up the game.
    • Leave feedback: This will link you back to the General Discussions board, where you can ask questions, post things ( Easter Eggs, Coordinates, etc. ) and reply to threads.
    • Support: You should come here for help on bugs, work a rounds, and for posting crash reports. Once again, follow the asked format. Also come here for changelogs. You can come here for preordered beta key issues, but I'm assuming you've already started the game.
    • Launch Starbound (OpenGL): You launch the game with OpenGL graphics instead of DirectX graphics. I am really not an expert, but from what I know, DirectX was on par with OpenGL back in the day, but now it's prefered with devs because of it's 3D graphics. Some people have been saying that it's better with OpenGL, or they get a butt-ton of errors, it's just an alternative that's there for you pleasure.
    • Launch Starbound Server: If you don't understand what that is, I.......just......gah, juhhhh........go. Just go. *cough* In all seriousness though, it's just starting up the server. I haven't played around with it, so google it something. Or just ask other Star-Brothers and Star-Sisters.
    • Current beta version: This is the version. It's useful for knowing whether mods will work with your specific version, and it also has a funny name. Koala......

Step 2: Now you have started the game. Good job. I bet you're feeling pretty awesome . Good work. Now, onto the real shit. After you've seen the gorgeous logo ( it's awesome ) and the very lengthy loading screen, you've made it. It's a pretty simple, though effective screen. It's self explanitory, so I won't outline it. But here's the current screen.

As you can see, there's Singleplayer ( all alone! ), Multiplayer, Options, and Quit ( for Rage Quitting ).

    • SinglePlayer: Just tap that, and then make a character. It guides you from there.
For choosing a Character, or for making one
[IMG] For making your actual character. I was randomised with this weird little glitch [IMG]

    • MultiPlayer: Just put in the IP, Username and Password. Then I believe it's the same as singeplayer. With multiplaying aspects.

    • Options: There's not many, but Zoom is for FOV, and the Resolution is for fullscreen. Speech Bubbles and Full Screen, I hope you know what they are. SFX and Music are the sounds and the background music. I suggest you keep them on for now, cause it's gorgeous music, and pitch perfect SFX.

    • Quit: I'm not even gonna go here. But note that if you leave the original launcher open, it won't close the launcher.
That's it for now. Sorry guys! But please, if you want me to continue, just answer yes in the poll, and I'll keep going. Otherwise, just hit no. Oh, and also, please leave a comment/constructive criticism! It would be appreciated.

Anyway, chao, and thank's for reading!

P.S The next parts will be gameplay, but nothing that ruins the excitement of finding and discovery!

Thanks! I thought it was kinda pointless in the beginning, but I decided that some of it was important, and my OCD side of me just had to have everything explained.

BTW, I just checked the poll, and I decided I may as well make a second guide.

If someone needs this... they should not be near a computer.

sadly, from browsing the forums, A LOT of people need this, as many seem to lack common sense or have slow adaptation skills. This helps them get a good start and is useful to someone who has never touched a computer before but is not because of a possible (hopefully) sole interest in Starbound.

That's who I'm actually having this go to. Just all the little kids who'll be playing this ( We all know they're there ). Anyway, I wanna make a section of my tut's to be just tips and shit, and the rest will be me using a character created for this specific forum.
