Modding Help Trying to add options for my mod

I am in need of help navigating the folder structure to find the necessary files to make a custom settings option for ore distribution in my mod. I was thinking about a slider or something to configure it but I have no idea where the files I need are located for adding the files, I managed to find the sprite maps but it does not seem to hold any functional settings for what happens when the buttons are clicked. Any help would be much apricated thank you.
