I recently thought back to the day's when I use to play Fallout 3. Everytime I visited a particulary interesting place, or finishing main quests, I'd away take something from the place as a souvenir and I'd place it at my home so I can reminisce at all the good times I had. This leads me on to my suggestion; there should be a room on the space station that is dedicated to the displaying all of your items that you would like to commendate. maybe if their were acheviements in the game they would unlock a piece of art, (for example when you beat your first boss, a doll version of him unlocks in your Trophy Room). let's hear your thoughts on this.
I can see this working out well, and I would love to have a collection of all of my past accomplishments. Although, it would have to be highly customisable by the player. Meaning that it wouldn't be limited to preset achievements, and the player could create their own trophy marking something they deem worthy of their trophy room.
I like this idea! Maybe even extended from one room in the space station to being able to place items anywhere in the space station or in any building you've constructed. Maybe even your shuttle!
Totally! I loved the maniquins they added to terraria so I could display all my unique drops (robot hat, bunny mask). I was disappointed that they couldn't hold weapons Hopefully we also see a lot more collectibles in this game
It would be an interesting idea, although to what end would it serve? If it happened to be a room only you could visit then it may as well serve as nothing more than a sprawling list of achievements/statistics. I'm not one of those people who have an obsession with achievements personally, but I suppose some people could appreciate the idea more than me.
I think this is a great idea. Being a "Collector/Explorer" style gamer, these trophy or achievement ideas always touch a warm place in my heart. Perhaps it could take a slight move in the Fable/Skyrim direction, like being able to place trophies in preset places on racks or in display cases. It'd be neat to place that "unidentified alien tech" trophy in the lab room in a display case or on the lab table like it's being researched, or hang the "alien boss" head above your bed and his hide on the floor by the rocket-fuel powered fireplace, then be able to switch them out as your mood changes. Anyway, excellent idea, Starman.
Could even add in "trophies" to drop from especially hard bosses or challenging enemies. Or even have a trophy pop up in an "achievement section" in your home eh?
I would love to have a trophy room for achievements and boss kills. I also want maniquins to dress in the armor.
I really think the sandbox/Terraria approach to trophies should be to have a set of furniture, to which you could put your trophies into. Not just some 'utterly useless' 'trophy items', but also the actual achievements: all the awesome weapons, tools, armor sets, accessories and such that you have managed to obtain over the course of your adventures. I sure hope Starbound is going to have so much content that no pre-scripted 'trophy room' is ever going to be big enough for all the stuff. Therefore it should be normal to have to build your trophy room(s) yourself. I my Terraria campaign, i really meant to build one big trophy room (out of golden bricks), but ended up scattering the mannequins and statues all over my castle (like: to denote, which chests contain what) --> turned out to be great! Still, i hated to have all of my awesome weapons sitting in 'just another chest' instead of having them on display.
Maybe a tiny metal trophy stand to display any item. just click it,a little box will appears, and put the item in the box. And maybe a futuristic version of the terraria mannequins, like a forcefield tube that has no gravity for your armor.
Like the idea, Now I need to remake my blueprints for my space station. Also, maybe you could get things other than trophies and souvenirs, but still be cosmetic. Maybe gold paint for a weapon?
i'll even expand your idea! imagine a boss that drops nothing when killed with guns (maybe money and exp, but that's all)... but when you kill it with a sword, it drops his head as a trophy/collectible!
I love this idea. Remind me of a Fable, when you could display trophies gathered from bosses to the townsfolk and gain reputation. Perhaps trophies would be just like terraria's statues and you could place them somewhere. Still, I like the idea, very much.
