    What is the new fuel?

Coal works fine for me. They just stopped from using wood.

Coal works fine for me too. But not accepting wood is, for me, a great downside... it forces me to go mining more than I'd like to. I hate mining...

New patch is FABUR. good luck.... hehehe

I'm glad we can't use wood anymore. It made zero sense.

    Yeah, and it's FUBAR too.

Wood burns, coal burns. Either one should run the apparent steam engine on our ship.

I never realized that Wood was originally a fuel source. But whatever, I prefer mining and finding random things in the crevices of a planet.

Then we should be able to burn wooden chairs and cloth as well.

I think it was less a change from a logistics perspective, and more to force kids to explore more (explore down, instead of up).

Exactly. if it uses coal, it can most likely use wood as well. It makes complete sense to me.

I don't mind the change because wood was easy to get. Coal is as well but wood filled it up much quicker.

coal burns at much higher temperatures than wood i cannot see wood generating equal power to coal in any fashion

One is a quick burning resource, the other is a long slow burning resource.

Decide what will logically get you further when you travel ;)

Well, by that logic, coal doesn't make sense either, since you are flying a futuristic spaceship :wut:

I'm not sure what the wood to coal burn power ratio is for intergalactic starships but I assume it'd be less than zero.

Either way, both can be used as fuel source. In fact, maybe this eludes most people but CHARCOAL is used as a fuel source and comes from wood.

    Well said.

I honestly expected battery power or maybe some form of kinetic engine OR SOMETHING NOT WOOD OR COAL.
If you can't burn one for fuel then you can't burn the other. Taking just one and leaving the other just because is silly.

I'd say a few of you should design a charcoal powered spaceship [with the goal of FTL travel] and submit it to NASA...

We'd become legends. Not only discovering FTL travel, but with charcoal.
Now I dare you to design a coal powered spaceship capable of FTL travel :D

Maybe it'd be better if we could distill ores into space gasoline

I love the idea of an extra step with turning coal into fuel, but I always just interpreted the ship as having a built-in distiller. And like we need another reason for the ADD kids to gripe about fuel being so exhausting to collect.

What, you wont like Wood Powered starships? whats wrong with you!? ( :giggle: )

I tried putting wood into my gas tank one time. It didn't work and hurt a bit.

Seriously though, Minecraft logic doesn't have to always be the right logic.
