Triangle-shaped dirt block platforms?

They're "pointing" down into the ground.. but don't seem to actually point anything out..
What's up with those? Do they signify something special?
Because that's not a true random pattern.. it has to mean something!

 

Just something to add a little spice to the landscape I guess.

 

But that's the problem -- the shape is a perfectly symmetrical triangle, which means it's not part of the "natural" landscape and thus made by the "sentient" creatures of that planet for whatever reason...
Or is this Starbound's version of crop circles?

You're right that it isn't natural, in a sense. Part of the terrain generation does intentionally place weird landmarks like that (there's a few other similar features) to make the planet's surface a bit more interesting. But, that's all. It's just there for looks.

I like to call them "upside-down dirt nachos".

Its their attempt to add some spice... however to me personally it starts to look a bit.... (O hey, I see what you're trying to be), but its better than nothing, I guess.

 

I've seen similar formations in my travels as well, though not quite as symmetrical. It usually too platforms side by side with one elevated higher than the other, and always with dirt walls. Maybe its dumb algorithm luck?

 

Well, I decided to followed one of those arrows all the way down to the lava... and after a while found this:




Didn't find the Arkenstone... yet

 

yea ,those are just naturally generated. as others have said, it's to add spice to the world. it's more annoying than anything else really, since it blocks beaming up to the ship.
