Now we know we're getting mechs, but what about one of the most famous sub-types of mecha? TRANSFORMING VEHICLES! There's a lot of ways this can go, tanks that turn into mechs, submarines that turn into mechs, helicopters or other airbound vehicles that turn into mechs, drilling machines that turn into mechs. Heck, maybe even the hoverbike can turn into a small mech that you pilot from atop its back. I can't really see how this will add anything (aside from generic awesomeness) to the gaming experience and I'm sure that it would be a pretty difficult thing to program in, not to mention making new sprites and animations for each vehicle, but I think it's something to consider at least
Sounds like it would make traversing much more convinient but i dont expect anything as epic as Transformers.
Check this out -Red- http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/starbound-fanart-by-thomas.1896/#post-35628 One of our talented fan-artists, Dekker, Envisioned the mech if it could transform it's legs into its body and become an APC. I thought it was really great. And I love the idea of transforming vehicles.
Ah! That's almost exactly how I envisioned that particular mech to transform! Thanks for showing me that Jermex
Ah, i see. Yes, that would be realy cool, a very interesting feature and would make digging/performing other manual things alot easier.
As leader of a team that will be devoted to the mech front for my clan I can say that this idea is 120% amazing I hope some vehicles have different stages, but I hope they DONT have full-humanoid forms. I feel that would be a little too out-of-place in this game.
Well yes, that would be redundant, I should have mentioned that in my first post. After all, vehicles that turn into a large wolf-like mecha are awesome too. As well as various other types.
Yeah that's my first thought too. Brilliant and nice to have some sort of Veritech Fighter. Maybe we could have a basic mech for at start and "train" it like animals to do various transformations to adapt to certain need like flying and swiming/diving. Although we wouldn't call it "train" but rather "modify"
