So... I searched the Suggestions forum and did not find anything related to this (but forgive me if the idea is already here somewhere). I believe that this device would be specially useful when playing with friends: - When we're exploring the deepest layers of a planet, unrefined wood and coal, for example, are never enough to light the places. So, with that in mind, if there was a device (Transfer Station), where our friends could send us (paying a pixel fee for every package) the materials we need, it would allow for a whole new experience of exploration at distance. - This device is useful not only when you need something, but when you/your friends are in places that are difficult to reach and want to show something found. - Pixels transfers could be implemented. - To justify the pixel fee, the Transfer Station could be linked to an intergalactic corporation, similar to what we have in Borderlands and its machines. Fees would be calculated based on market value, quantity and/or rarity (?). - The Transfer Station could be crafted in the Robotic Table and would have a simple interface with a single slot we'd use to allocate things (one kind, various quantities, e.g. wood x1000). - The Mobile Receiver could be printed using the 3D Printer. And... that's pretty much it =)
I like this. Considering there isn't, and who knows if there will be, a transporter that allows you to get to a previous location on a planet. This idea sounds great for multiplayer servers as you say; with your transfer station building a base far underground or having multiple projects with people working on different sides of the planet wouldn't be such a hassle anymore. I also like the pixel cost idea. It makes it so it doesn't feel so "cheaty" and helps to work with pixel economy. Right now I find myself dropping a lot of chests just to transfer items, having to go back and find those chests later on is the frustrating part... Great idea, hope to see this.
