So, i started playing again since the release, and i was on the small moon's with not Oxygen and you can just put down a torch and its on fire, seems kinda odd since it wouldn't be able to burn,is it a design choice or just forgotten by the devs?

Since this works this way for really long time already (and they had time to change it) I believe it's a design choice.

Off topic but.....do moons typically have that large deposits of ore?

    That's not an asteroid?

Wouldn't know. Never been to one, OP said it was moon.

Yeah but asteroids can have absurd amounts of normal ores

tahts an asteroid it got meteorrock. could also eb the astroid layer of a moon, but in the end doesn't matter its about oxygenless and torches.

Why are torches the only common effective lighting source, where are the glowsticks?

Almost sure you can find a mod with a time limit for torch + be unable to place them in airless area (hum does the "airless word exist ? xD)

IMO boring craft , they are very often use in Terraria (cuz easy recipe) , but yeah almost never in Starbound :/

hidden in chests in the glow biomes, and you can get a receipe once you collect some, but they are rather expensive as they require rare glow fibre formt hat biome + glass.
What makes me wonder the most si we cannot hold torches or lanterns to make light, that is a magical feature only the flashlight has.

well the flares are terrarias glowsticks

Yes but i must admit , even if i take all i see for store in chest , i haven't even use 1 flare since 1.0 (and some updates before).

Also we REALLY NEED a contextual key , if you play terraria you know the Shift key (if im right) , if you dont know let me explain :

You have cursor on nothing while holding shift ? You auto hold a torch
You have cursor on solid block while holding shift ? You auto hold a pickaxe (or MM-break in this case)
You have cursor on a tree while holding sift ? You auto take a axe (ofc it dont apply for starbound ^^)

But this is VERY usefull in the other game , and IMO its a feature we really need , because be honest , maybe 80% of players use a weapon for enlight an area (flametrower sword or things like that).

There is a lantern in the craft list somewhere, I haven't made one but that might work like a holdable torch.

They are also time limited, red tinted and cannot be pinned to walls.

There should just be glow bug farms like the moth attractors.

The crafting content is very thin all round now especially weapons and armour.

Yes basicly lantern on a stick , without the stick (hopefully you have hands :D)

But i'm a part of players who use weap for enlight , like the sword you win after the last Nunu quest , 1 item for fight+light +the new hotbar , i've made my choice.

In terraria they don't stick to walls unless you make sticky glowsticks. And the timeis long enough in an area to do whatever you need to do. Maybe nto if you wanna read a book in th depth of a cave.

Yes the explorers lantern can be held int he hand but its light is abyssimal bad like 20% of a torch in brightness. and thats not worth to be called a "light source"

in fact majority of my light is either the flashlight or a gun with light effect, the aegisalt bow is amore proper light source than fiddling around with the other stuff.

I generally use my scanner for light when I'm not using torches.

I have run across single handed wands, they produce glow when held. And if you find a fire one it can light up an area while you move around, as well as dealing damage.

The whole torches working on the moon always made me laugh, but it's kind of needed early on for mining fuel.
