Too Hard to Find Meat

I appreciate a degree of realism but I have now died of starvation several times while killing creature after creature trying to get meat to drop. It's not fun or immersive, just tedious and annoying. I like that you need to hunt, cook and eat, but I don't want to keep getting diverted to long and often futile hunts.

Please increase the frequency of meat/food drops.

 

im not sure but , just upgrade your bow ... with the steel hunting bow ( or even iron ) the meat drop ratio is almost 90%

 

Meat drops ~50% of the time if you're using hunting weapons (steel hunting knife. Wood, Iron or steel hunting bow)

The drop rate is only extremely low if you're hunting using a "regular" combat orientated weapon. Furthermore, you are supplied with seeds to grow crops (Which typically grow fast enough that you can sustain yourself with them alone), and most worlds, especially starter worlds, tend to have some amount of natural edible flora if you keep your eyes peeled and harvest it by pressing "E"

 

Strange.. I find food is just kind of... everywhere, and common as all hell.. You must be getting really unlucky

 

I thought meat drop rate was increased to 75% lately (with a hunting item equipped).

Anyway it's pretty easy. Did you make a hunting weapon? Because, it tells you to right in the tutorial quests.

 

Also farming. Farming is really easy and the food is far better than meat. Also doesn't include monsters trying to eat your face.

 

This. I have never had an issue getting food past the first game-day of a new character.

 

no problems so far with food. just go around with your hunting knife (one time around the planet should get you around +30 meat)

hunting in the name I think is all that is needed.

 

Since the most recent patch, I've never had to actively hunt for food. I've got well over 50 meat on my character right now. I've only used the bow when I needed a low tier ranged weapon. I would almost suggest making it so meat doesn't drop unless you are "hunting" again.

 

Thanks, all. I somehow missed the whole hunting weapon thing and was hunting with combat weapons.

 

I have around 200 meat stocked up(back when my weapons were outdated steel hunting bow was my best friend), really you should just use a hunting bow in some areas the steel one can easily be a 1 hit kill one anything.
