I love the world build/explore genre of game and with all the features this suggests I MUST play this the second it is available. Sadly I missed the monster contest by two days but I'm getting in now so I don't miss future contests. As a bit of an intro since thats what this is for, I am a somewhat new informal programmer that compulsively plays games, but is not very social in reality. I enjoy space travel and prefer a glaciel planet with a generally weak gravety field. I tend to be competitive towards my friends, but still friendly to all.
Welcome to the forums! I'm Tiger, a 7th grader who wants to learn how to program. My dad is learning C# with me, and helping me out sometimes. How new is somewhat new?
Hello and welcome the forum Hope you will enjoy your time here. I'm also a bit interested in programming, I have taken classes for a half year learning C#, and after summer I will be learning C++ as well. Though I have no creativity so I haven't really touched game programming at all. I like to play not make x)
well, by somewhat new i mean I am capable of writing .bats and such to do anything basic. with more the scripting side, I worked with the Flash game making program for a while (free trial only) and made a VERY basic tower defense where you place black orbs on a gray background and fire white pellets at red orbs that go by on a set route. so VERY new to anything productive.
Hello and welcome to the Forums, Tomatha! I look forward to playing a game that you have made; tell us when it's done, even if it is in a few years. Send me a PM if you need anything. I hope that the forums bring you as much fun as Starbound does!
No problem, you seem pretty cool and I cannot wait to play multiplayer when this game comes out and if you'd like I could visit your place in the game. hopefully there won't be a glitch with multiplayer and space travel, such as everyone being sent to different planets and never being able to find each other.
Hey! Welcome, i hope you have a fun blast here on the Starbound forums. And did you check out the winner of the monster contest? Pretty sweet. And dont worry i got ToxicArcher's poo covered, cleaning it right now haha.
Welcome Tomatha. Where does your name originate from? Its unique. I look forward to seeing some of your art as the next contests come around. Nice meeting you.
I noticed the winner, was happy to see how much work people put into the contest. It REALLY lets the makers know we back them 100% on this game and would love to help it to completion. @Vargus My name actually is a result of wanting to make games called "Tom at the (insert location here)" (example: Tom at the theater, where you would work jobs at cleaning the bathrooms, serving snacks, taking tickets 'with minigames of some kind', even theatre security, cuz I love a good fight scene...) But Tomatthe doesn't flow as well, plus it'd be pronounced tom-math or tom mattie or like a hundred pronunciations if I made it that. Since I'm still somewhat new at programming it still seems like a lot on my plate but I can hope to make it.
thanks, I must be honest though, the second starbound comes out is the second I'm able to, and WILL take a planet and destroy it all to dust to see what happens... and if they are as large as suggested, I will probably be sightly busy for a little while and I will probably get lost in the game for a while. (here's luck to me not crashing the game since if you go left far enough you get back to the start and this would possibly make movement in the center hard on the game's engine.) Imagine if the gravity weakened as the planet shrank.
