[IMG] That's what was at the bottom. It was just a lake of lava. We used dirt to dig to the bottom to see how far down it goes.
We also noticed that sometimes ores would spawn when we put dirt down. Not sure if that is a bug or not.

You and your friends are some bad dudes. I haven't dared to try and dig straight down yet, don't have the gull to be that crazy.

Very cool. The bug that causes ores to appear is actually a great way to mine, especially early on. Even in alpha sector you'll find massive veins of diamonds and platinum down there.

There was one asteroid belt I visited where you teleported down to the very last block to the bottom of the map. It was pretty cool. Figured it was the same on planets, but this saves me the time of finding out myself. Bravo on getting that far down... don't make a hole. :D

That's really cool. Awesome how you guys built something down there in the lava. I never would have thought to do it. I've dug to the lava many times, but that's really awesome.

Did you really have to necro a post from December? I know it was on topic but I'm pretty sure most forum members knew this.

Just be careful down that low, if you run into admanatine, you better get off that planet fast before the demons start spawning and coming up through your magma forges. Lost my entire starting base because of that.

    Seems legit.

we dont say the D word. or the A word. it's Clowns and Cotton Candy. the procedure you described is usually called "breaching the circus", or less often, "opening a clown car".

Wow, thats really neat! I had a feeling it'd just be all lava down there. Your base is pretty cool too, I hope you make it even bigger!

I had a toon that dug straight down and instead of reaching a molten core I seemed to reach a frozen core as below a certain level I would freeze in seconds as if I was in space..... was that a bug?

I think biomes can exist in the lava layer. Might of been unlucky and got a ice one.

Rare planets with a core of ice sounds pretty space-opera cool, though.

Aww, yeah. I know where my base is gonna be now.

no. Lava might be the most common, but there are those with ice core. I hope they expand this adding more versions of deadly cores. The ice one has been there for a while now... I think it was the 2nd or 4th update... unsure. Been that long to not remember. lol

now, does it just simply stop when u get to the deepest point or do you instantly die like in the asteroid fields?

You die instantly, I think. I hit the bottom but I fell in lava, I would have died instantly either way. Dug down to the center of this desert planet three times, found 12 coal. (Beta planet) I also found 400 iron but I already had enough steel to make full racial set :(
