To the devs - will there be spiders?

AHHHHHHHHH!!! I'm trying not to see any pictures of anything spider related because I am eating lunch at this very moment. So I'll try not to post something someone has already posted about, but SPIDERS!! no way, when I think about it, I can only imagine something even worse jumping out at me resembling a spider but more advanced and even more creepy than any spider ever conceived... and I'm deathly afraid of those creepy crawlies. A decently sized guy like me fearing something like a spider, ha pretty funny I know, but bleweheewwughrghrer. When I think about it, the only thing I really fear, outside of maybe looking like a fool in front of thousands of people, is spiders... worst nightmare, I'm in front of thousands of people on a stage when a tiny little spider creeps out making me scream like little girl... lol

Y'know, it's not a personal choice.
Phobias are caused by either traumatic events or just genetics. I didn't choose to have Acrophobia and Arachnophobia.
Genetics did.
So the next time you go "Oh, stop being such a baby", why don't you stop and think before you post, eh?
What's not scary to you is terrifying to someone else.
Also, what's the point of the pictures? You get some kind of cruel pleasure from putting them there?

It seems a bit silly to let a phobia ruin a game for you. Those spiders literally have no way of hurting you in real life, this irrational fear needs to be overcome, because the devs are not going to waste their time making sure spiders don't end up in your game just because you have some irrational fear of them.

 

Mods may. And I wouldn't call it a waste of time if it makes one more player happy and able to enjoy the game without quitting in moments of spider arrival.

 

Your comment is irrationally douch-bagy like. Seriously, if you can't contemplate how other's feel then you have no way of knowing what the hell they feel... I can understand this person's fears to some extent, hell I shuddered and yelped every time I had to pass through a spider's web in Metro... it was terrifying. But yeah seriously, no need to be a **** about it.

 

I agree people without a fear of spiders don't know how people got them like me I wasn't always agoraphobic but i became one when i watched a movie 40 times then tried to get over my fear by learning about spiders over 40 of them you know conquer your fear by knowledge. Worst Advice ever given All I knew is how they were going to kill me after that.

 

You see, that's why it's irrational. You didn't even get this phobia from a real life situation, which for me is at least justification for having it. You got it from a movie, a medium which has zero chance of harming you physically. Movies are by their nature fictional.

 

A very close friend of mine is extremely arachnophobic. If there's any spidery looking parts in the game, I will likely be producing a mod to either take them out or change them to something not spidery. I don't have many friends that are very interested in the game and it would be a shame I couldn't play with the one who is.

 

That's also stupid, phobias aren't always developed from a real life situation, they're considered an anxiety type psychological disorder. The only thing irrational here is you're ability to not understand others due to the fact of you not feeling it.

 

Try being 7yrs and then watching a movie about them and then try to get over

 

"My are" ability to not understand does not mean I cannot provide an outside perspective. I am saying that it's dumb to develop a fear of something from a situation that has no way of harming you.

Ok let me see If I can explain this to you.If you have a nightmare about a killer coming into your house and killing everyone and then walking up to you and stabbing you the knife in your dream feels so real until you can feel the cold steel of the blade and you wake up screaming should we laugh at you and call you dumb?. And if you can't understand this all I am saying is have empathy.

Like I said before, if you have no idea what they feel you should probably just shut the hell up and provide sympathy... because you sure as hell can't provide empathy. The point is they're a minority and they shouldn't waste resources trying to program in something so trivial, and the likelihood of you running into a "spider monster" is very miniscule with such variety.

 

You are so quick to judge to point and laugh you know nothing empathy but something tells me that when you look for empathetic people you will find none.

 

No, your first point was you stating how ridiculous and supposedly irrational you thought it was. "Oh ho ho, silly people afraid of things... why do they even make horror movies and games? There's obviously nothing to be afraid of."
