On a completely different note, I am starting to become a bit convinced that schools induce arachnophobia to save bugs or something like that.

As a child I was afraid of spiders, not in a phobic way though. I just convinced myself spiders are mostly harmless. People in their sleep eat a spider now and then anyway.
At some point I became very brave against spiders. There was this spider lurking on the wall, and my gf didn't want to have sex until that spider was gone. This just shows that people can conquer fears/dislikes by being motivated.

I tried deleting caches and everything, the spider remains there unspoilered, if the poster would please remove it or try and edit the post in other ways it would be appreciated, it seems to be the only case in the entire thread.

 

Well, I am unsure about that one. Perhaps everyone is too scared to open the thread now because they are afraid of some 8-legged, harmless household "pest" that kills bugs?

Now now, let's not spread myths. For the record, the little freaks wig me out too, though I'm usually immune in video games. The only one that got me a little uneasy was Skyrim, and that was due to how large they were, and how they had a habit of dropping in on your character from above in complete silence.

And as for phobias, they're difficult for people that don't have any to understand. I knew someone at my previous job who was deathly afraid of... balloons. If she saw one she would get noticeably uneasy, and if one actually popped in her presence she'd literally scream and run out of the room.

To this day I have no idea why, but one can't deny the powerful, irrational effects of true fear.

If they can scare you, then how about a #hashtag?
It has eight legs, after all. Maybe it's a close relative.

EDIT: by the way, I'm also highly arachnaphobic, but my race suggestion is spider-people.

Decide for yourself: If either of these scare you even the slightest bit, then you are doomed.

The four little spots on their backs are vestigial organs that used to be full-fledged legs before they evolved.
They're called the Arachneidi, and they are based on Indian and Mid-Eastern cultures.

They're based on the camel spider, but don't look it up if you are arachnophobic. I made that mistake and nearly puked.

 

So, bottom line, it could happen but it isn't intentional.
