To Nightly or Not to Nightly

So, I've played this game quite a bit in 2015 (200-ish total hours), to end game in the Spring on Stable, then to end game on Unstable in the Summer and again in the Fall with quite a bit of exploration and building thrown in as well.

I just finished getting to end game again (on Unstable, the updates are awesome and I am encouraged by the content I see in the developer's updates), and I can't decide what to do. I can either keep on playing the character I have solo, and work on building colonies and finding cool equipment. I could find a multiplayer server. Or...I could try the nightly.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I really enjoy the game but I seem to only be able to play it on the regular for about a month or a month and a half at a time...

The nightly builds sometimes may be unplayable due to unfinished development of features or some heavy bugs, it also will bound your progress in the game because of that. Sometimes to avoid these bugs you'll have no other option but starting from the beginning with new character. But.. and this is a huge BUT - you will be able to see the freshest and newest stuff in the game. I suggest you playing nightly only if you are not afraid of loosing everything you've got like.. on the next day with the upcoming patch :D
I've played nightly a lot and I like it. You can kinda feel the game evolving.

There's 95% possibility you won't be able to enjoy most recently added content without knowing what was added and not using the console commands to obtain new items, and there's a very great chance of your nightly character or universe getting corrupted. Go ahead if you feel like experimenting, though.

Ive used the same character for the past few months. Corruption chance is extremely low, and chucklefish is good about making sure the game at least starts. (They have to playtest after all)

But yes, Nightly is for testing. You basically have to expect things to be broken and be willing to use commands to work around issues. If you are looking for a solid playthrough, then this is not the version for you.
