    Their above us? Ummm...sorry but no.
    Just because someone plays on a harder difficulty, their not "better" than us.
    That's like saying a soldier should be allowed to do whatever he wants because he fights for his country.

    I have nothing against Hardcore modes and all that rogue-style but I prefer not to play those styles as I hate the idea of playing for hours, days, weeks, months, and then losing it all. If people like that style and play it then I'm happy for them but I'd prefer Hardcore to be an optional thing.

    I'll definetly pick the hardest mode possible. Always love me an intense challenge, because then when you succeed, it's SO satisfying.

    EDIT: To explain why I'd prefer permadeath; it gives you that sense of caution. If you play on easy / normal, and you see something suspicious / that looks dangerous, you run forward to check to see if it is, whereas, with permadeath, it's more immersive in the fact that you actually CAUTIOUSLY Approach and are extremely careful. I guess it's just a realism thing, though I agree, dieing by simple mistakes SUCKS.

    n00bie = n00b = noob = newbie = new player. Therefore, I will go with that.

    I'm more of a laidback kinda guy, so ill roll easy mode. I want to build up my knowledge on easy and then start giving myself challenges like, steal gods dinner before sunset, colonize 12 planets before the first full moon etc. etc.

    I'll likely start off of on medium difficulty then only do hardcore until I can find a group that I can trust.

  6. I'm usually not a fan of extremely hard difficulties in these types of games, especially if they involve permanent death and/or losing all of my items. I'd rather a normal/medium mode. ^^

    I used to play a game called 'Realm of the Mad God' (on a break) and it had a perma-death system. Obviously, there are pros and cons to perma-death gameplay, but in the end, I really enjoyed the rush of knowing my character could possibly die at any moment. It really makes you careful about your every move. Now, the perma-death system fit that game very well, but Starbound will be a completely different game; and with PVP thrown in the mix, I don't want to be rolling character after character just because some geared out arse has his crosshairs on me. I'll be playing one below hardest at first.

    Also, will game difficulty be server side? You couldn't be playing on hard with other players in the same server set on easy right?

    My first character will be the one that I play the most and consist of me hoarding every item that I can find, just like every other sandbox/open world RPG. :oops:

    After I have reached "end game" I will make a new character and use what I have learnt to see how well I can do in hardcore.

    I'm not even sure what the pool means. I'd guess it's if you're either playing Softcore or Hardcore? Not sure.

    Start off easy to get a feel for things and then move up. That's how I'm gonna do it. Also depends on how I'm playing too. If I just wanna build and what-not I'd probably stick to an easier mode as to not be bothered by creatures and such.

    I used to prefer a modded Medium Core in Terraria, until I died in the Underworld and dropped all my things ALL THE THINGS into lava. Moilten Armor? Gone. Molten pickaxe, sword, jungle stuff, rose whip, mirror, spells, more hellstone ore, lots of slime jelly.... 20 something gold... some diamonds... all my good accessories, star fury... all gone. gone GONE.

    You can`t say that you have played the game if you have not played N00bie mode... so I will n00b it up and then go Pro Hardcore!

    That said, I'll probably start a bit small before moving on to the !!FUN!! stuff.
