To be honest, are you going for n00bie mode first?

I'm going to be playing the hardest difficulty at first, to try to build up my survival instinct and reserved battle style.

hm, i think i will casual it up at n00bie. another character will be reserved for the hardest of cores~ just so when i feel like living on the edge.

Your poll lacks the inbetween, young grasshopper. That is not how you do a successful poll.

Besides, we don't know if Newbie mode will be what is been shown. We also don't know how it will be. I'm also sure that there would be other options BEYOND those two. Softcore does not automatically mean 'newbie' mode.

Beyond that, I'll pretty much be playing with the option (Assuming there are options for it, but it'd be nonsensical if there weren't) to NOT drop all of my ill gotten gains upon death. I don't rightfully care about tossing myself to the blood-thirsty wolves, nor am I masochistic in that regards.

I'll probably aim for the middle-ground. I like there being a punishment for my death, however I also don't like death being permanent. That's what nuzlockes are for.

  5. Serenity

    Serenity The Waste of Time

Another decisive poll with no middle ground :/ I will play slightly above hardcore basically what ever the second hardest mode is.

I'm a massive casual, so I'd prefer casual until the very, very end. I'll make a spartan character only when I was held at gunpoint.

I agree with the middle-ground opinion.

I'll probably start off on easy and move onto hardcore later.

Hmm... I would probably pick something in the middle. Or whatever difficulty the server I'm playing on has. (If difficulty is selected server side)

Middle ground for me as well. I like having a consequence for dying, but I don't see the point in making my game less enjoyable by having to redo all my hard work every time I die, which realistically, is going to happen on occasion

Really depends on what the difference between the modes are. I won't play any perma-death modes that may or may not be in the game. I personally just don't like the prospect of committing dozens if not hundreds of hours into a character and losing it all to a simple mistake.

However, I also don't want to play on a difficulty that provides little to no challenge either. If playing on the easiest mode means the monsters hit like wet noodles and won't attack you unless you attack them first sort of deal, I'll pass on that as well.

Until we get more information on what changes between difficulty modes, I'll cast my vote at a medium difficulty level. However, if it's like Terraria where the only difference between difficulty is whether you drop money, gear or die permanently, I'd probably stick with the casual game mode.

I never play hardest first, unless I find the game very easy. And to say that people who don't play on hard are noobs is quite frankly insulting. If you want to challenge yourself, that's fine. People play how they want, and under whichever mode they want. There's nothing noobish about that, elitist. :p

I'll play on Normal Mode more than likely, I don't like Hardcore cause I really hate perma-death.

Agreed. I never understood why people enjoy having their progress deleted by permadeath. But so long as it's an optional mechanic, I'm happy just avoiding it.

Because they're HARDCORE! They're on a level above us creative/casual/anything that isn't suicidal gamers. Personally I can see the appeal of a challenge, but in a game like this I prefer to approach it in more of a... casual view. Making the game impossible takes away the lasting beauty of the game itself, but having it too easy makes that beauty dim.

Middle-ground, should be challenging enough to entice me to keep playing without being too punishing. I already have Binding of Isaac, FTL and Spelunky for to sate my gaming masochisms.
