Option 3 seems pretty popular.

Hopefully we can combine Option 1 with 3.

 

I like option 3, because it goes well with the proposed "badge" system

I do think that losing custom avatars is not worth it though.

 

I would say it would have to be a mix of Option 1 and Option 3. However, given I have to choose between the two, I would choose Option 1. If I wanted Option 2 I could just use my Print Screen key and post the picture.

 

Option 1 or 3. I'd be pissed if I lost my Hobbes~

 

What about a variation on option 3? You don't lose your current avatar, but instead of putting your personal sprite below the avatar, which would increase clutter, make it a "player card" that you can copy-paste into your signature, or have it shown in the profile page or that little profile-popup for ease of access. This way, we don't lose our custom avatars, we don't increase clutter and we can have sprites with unlockables. The player card could also have many other goodies, such as background, honorary titles, clans you are part of, etc.
What do you think about this?

 

People could forge that WAAAY easily.

 

How can people forge a player card but not the character/sprite/avatar thingie? I'm suggesting they use similar software to create them, and display them in a place only the forum software can change, just like how we can't change our own titles.

Option 3 or Option 1. In that order. Option 2 is just too restrictive.

 

A combination of two and three would be the best imo.

Option one I think although I'm not quite sure about what this is about but option two might give a lot more spam on the forums to gain achievements just for the stuff...

I voted #3, but if it would not supported, I'd take #1.

 

I have a solution: have both the option for an avatar and a custom sprite, but have a star or some similar icon next to the name that registers whether or not it was made in the editor. Obviously the forum script would place or remove it based on whether it was uploaded from the player or exported from the editor.

Edit: to clarify, this would not stop people from being able to forge, but it would make forging blatantly obvious, as the only way to upload a custom avatar with forged unlockables and get the icon signifying its legitimacy would be to hack the forum servers.

 

Option 3, most definitely.

 

I don't see many people here sporting signatures under their posts.

As long as it can be turned off, I don't mind.

I would say- just turn off the unlockables altogether. No problem with forgeries when everyone has access to the same stuff. (why those forgeries are considered to be a problem in the first place? who cares?)
Also: this place is for discussing stuff not scoring points and unlocking trophies. Do people really care about this sort of stuff so much?
