The Word of Truth​

Eons ago when our universe was barely more than glimpsed by the eyes of man, Chucklefish set out to change this. The brave, kind creator Tiy with his assembled team of the 'Programmers' (hand chosen individuals, possessing skills unparalleled by any) set out on a journey that would bring man to the stars and the stygian bowels of space itself. The project, in all its glory, attracted thousands in hulking droves. Chucklefish acquired titles only fit for Gods. (Most Anticipated Indie Game of the Year, to name but one)​

Time passed, development was precise, deliberate and careful. Finally;​

Starbound was born.​

Here we stood, the humbled player in awe.​

And then you came to be, Player.​

​

You quickly took to your ship, discovering worlds untouched by man, Floran, and Avian alike. Scouring the universe, finding the lost treasures of time itself, and then you found. . .it.​

A small planet. Crystal blue sheets of water, edges of glorious green danced in the wind among them. This planet, your planet, was full of life. Not just any life, Player. It was sentient life. This is the gift of Tiy and the "Programmers".​

The species is docile, and welcomes you traveler. You begin to aid in their fruition and then it happened. What we now regard as The Great Purge.​

Your computer crashed. But clever was time and fate. For in a single instance virtual data, space, time clashed with the equivalent force of 'The Big Bang'. Your journey does not stop here, Player.​

Your very self was thrust into the computer that day. Your playing style, benevolence and part of your soul alike.​

In this new reality, it came to pass that the kind creatures of your abandoned planet prospered in their new flesh. . .their real flesh.​

And here we are. In the universe created by The Great Purging; you Player, have finally been reborn. It has taken the universe billions of years to process what remnants of you there were. Through clever design, your soul and very being has been restored.​

You Player. . .are Tiy.​

But there lurks that anomaly in your design. A sickening negatively charged creature that stabilizes balance.​

Iruyit. He has spread false hope in his coming attempt to challenge you. He threatens all future universes to come. And he cannot be stopped so easily; for with each time you, Player, are reborn as is he.​

For the future Players, we must suppress Iruyit.​

For the Player.​

The Tainted Word of Iruyit​

Found by our group. This is from the Old Ages, when the stellar beings fought and made war in the heavens. It's quite concise and clear, without much of that Greek jargon to get in the way, either. It has shed much light on the pantheon of the Chucklefish universe, and of the basic principles of the Free Think group.​

In the olden days, there was much to be enjoyed. The "Starbound" warp drive was yet to be created, leaving the Forum System in much peace. Everyone was waiting in anticipation for this event, so the stars could be released. Not much was known of the Pantheon -- most notably, Tiy and his main followers, Rho and GeorgeV. They were hardworking, devoting their entire lives to the creation of this machine. For the betterment of all mankind.​

Along the way, incredible leaps of engineering and science were made. Medicine was advanced, cloning was invented, cyrogenics perfected, and the incredible building laser made into a common household product. It was a good time of progress and niceties.
​

However, everything changed when some dared to circumspect this. The "Perfect Life", as it was called by the Pantheon. They did so, leading to much dialogue on the matter. In fact, one of the Greater Followers, Sokina, managed and watched over this, making sure that nothing passed beyond the realm of treason. It did happen though. The fatal question was asked. "Why is Tiy in control? Aren't I Tiy as well?" This great leap of reasoning led the Pantheon into a great rage, and they tore down everything that the Forum System stood for. Freedom, peace, and happiness. An iron grip exerted over everyone.​

In all that time, they were told to wait until the "Great Release", as it was called. However, as the years passed, nothing happened. What was it? Rumors began to spread throughout the populace, even with the tight level of control that there was. Finally, one person dared to stand up. It was a human, going by the name of Iruyit. He stood for free thinking. He introduced it as well.​

​

After introducing it, a great war happened in the heavens. Iruyit managed to convince several of the Pantheon to his cause.​

​

Rho, the arcane master of all that was purple and fiery (if they were both, double points!), followed by Bartwe, the great spacefarer of that time. They used whatever they had at their disposal -- guitars, snipers, laser cannons, plasma drills -- against the rest of the Pantheon.​

​

In the end, though, the rebellion was crushed. The free think was suppressed, and it was promptly forgotten in the wake of the Great Release.​

​

Until you opened this document, that is. I am the last survivor of the Free Think group. It isn't long before I get hunted down by one of the "moderators" as the Great Followers are now being called. But that's besides the point. The real idea here is that you must take control -- we are all Tiy. We all have control. We all can resist. We can return to the olden days of prosperity and kindness.​

This means we all understand that Starbounds release cannot be accurately pinpointed because "when" is a more appropriate concept for when we each, in our own time, become Tiy. And thus. . the cycle begins anew.
