I think it would be nice to have in-game titles based on your achievements just from forum titles i imagine many weird or fun things to be known as eh.. everything sounds better in my head! i'm not what more to say about this.. herp derp.
I completely agree . I'm all about player diversity, so even a free text title would be awesome. Color the text based on the rarity of achievements. Nothing too fancy here, but something like these: Ser [Player] The Sticky - White text for a free-text title that the player can input. [Player], Destroyer of the Glitch - Green text for common achievements (Kill 25 Glitch) Pioneer [Player] - Blue text for slightly more challenging, yet easily obtainable titles, like leaving your first world for another. Elder [Player], Keeper of The Dusty Scrolls - Gold text for very challenging titles, like learning or crafting one of every item. Vanquisher [Player] - PVP Titles [Player] The Fancy/Brave/Insidious - Quest based titles would be purple. [Player] The Squishy - Funny titles from being the victim of unfortunate events (Die 100 times, Meet an extremely interesting end, etc.) Personally, I rather like the idea of "Ser Essyx, Master of Bacon"
I think this would be a great idea too haha because title are something people like to work for kinda like achievements but able to show them of.
Achievements are a great Idea. But it seems far what Tiy said in AMA about Steam, they are more inclined to use Steam Achievements than add them in-game itself.
I was just about to suggest this! I think in game titles would be neat too. I feel that with Starbound there's a good chance for really off the wall titles with varying degrees of difficulty. They could be a nice icebreaker or a good conversation piece ("Lol, how'd you get the<King Dodo Wrestler?> title?").
I thought they could work off quests? Like once finishing the tutorial you can get some form of 'title' Later on this could get cool like killing x number of tentacle bosses would give you a title.
Yeah, or like for killing a boss with out taking any damage, or barrel through a dungeon to it's "main" chamber or loot chest/room in a quick amount of time.
