Tips for Weapons Testing Site mission?

So I just got access to the Weapons Testing Site, but many of his attacks either one-shot me, or come close. He forces me to switch to my rapid-fire pistol and shield, which does little damage to him. Can someone give me some advice? I mostly specialize in ranged attacks, but I have the materials to build any kind of armor.

Decent one handed sword, a shield, pulse jump, and not getting hit.

Use the shield when it uses the plasma orbs, the dash, and rockets, don't use it for the flamethrower. When he uses the flamethrower that's when you use pulse jump. You don't use the shield for the flamethrower because it drains the shield almost instantly.

One more thing, you can destroy rockets with melee and not take any damage. Rockets take a significant amount of your Shield's health, so try to avoid using it there. The best time to attack is after he uses the dash, the mech won't move for around 5 seconds after he's done dashing.

There was a thread I had just read regarding strats for beating the boss, once I find it I'll post a link.

I went for the heavy melee armour, double jump, the current tier crafted 2 handed sword, assault rife and a heavy hitter gun like a crossbow or sniper.

stay in the corner and shoot it with the assault riffle conserving energy so you can shoot the missiles. if a rocket gets to close try and jump over it with double jump. keep on running and jumping to each corner of the room to avoid its attacks. when it does "overload" duck in the corner and hit it with the heavy gun and whack it with the sword after the jet bash when its stunned.

every time you get hit eat a nano bandage. with the armour a hit will take about a half of you HP.

so just keep moving corner to corner and try and not let it trap you and use the chances when its still to shoot the crap out of it.

that how I did it, took me a few tries to lean its move set but you'll get there.

    good luck =3

Thanks! BTW cool avatar! I'm a Homestuck fan too. It's a shame that you almost have to use Melee, but I'll give it a shot!

Oh that place, that hard super mission stuff? pretty much you can hit thous rockets for sure with melees if ur good wtih spears or long range melee weapons so you don't consume energy unless your person who use too much energy, pretty much you want keep long sword cuz u still can parry the rockets still, but prefer you should make sure he/she doesn't attack early. if ur being chase by flamethrower, make sure you have grappling hook stay up. when it comes to the spread shot thing make sure you have a shield on as your prime either way sword or 1h gun its fine at lest you learn to use properly right with your energy. Then when come to his super speed thing, pretty much do same thing grappled top of you again and make sure your not in the range of the speed shock thing, as that if he become stun or knock out few seconds, pretty much that best options to counter attack on him while he is down. pretty much you just keep attacking that all I remember so far.

It can be done with ranged and staves, but it requires more effort to use them. Also shielding the flamethrower will not drain the shield at all if you land a perfect block on the first hit. For using ranged weapons though, i would definitely recommend taking targeted blink along, the energy regen from the lower tier armor makes up for the energy cost of the blink, and proper timing can keep you from being hit at all. Avian staff is useful for the fight, dropping it on his face when he starts firing the rockets will damage him and pop any rocket before it ever gets close to hitting you.

OOOOOORRRR u can watch how I did it so plz hold for 2 mins or few for youtube is loading my clip

what I did to finish him off is by using orb while he is levitating up to prepare for overload which I am showing example wut I could do but I prefer using fast and long, and also can cast same time. So by all I mean you have to time your casting right where you want him to be at. At first I forgotten about my orb that I can casted like shield around me and cause lots risk for explosive depends on that seconds.

    Tips:

    1. Medkits or, if possible, use nanobandages. When in low health, equip your shield and spam those things as if there was no tomorrow.
    2. The first times you'll die. Simple as that. So don't bring /\ on your first fight.
    3. I used a pair of swords that has that "lightning" extra attack, the one that fires a blue ball of enegy when you attack. I use those to destroy the missiles.
    4. Make sure you use your energy to dash, or use your grapling hook to avoid it's charge attack and flamethrower.
    5. I found a really nice +- 1000 DPS rifle so I used it to quickly damage the boss. Just be careful to not deplete your energy as you may need it to use dash, or jumps in order to dodge. Anyway, just be patient.
    6. His overload attack can be 100% dodged, but takes a while to learn a bit of extra focus.
    7. The greatest problem I had was timing: when to use my rifle, when to dash, when to jump. As soon as I figured it out (safter dyeing some 15 times), it was somewhat easy. Anyway, I did it with the Aegisalt armor.

How would you even obtain Targetted Blink by then? Secret unlock?

Or by spawning it in ;)

I didn't really pay attention to when I unlocked certain things, just read the strategy for ranged against bosses generally involved the use of targeted blink. As I'm more of a 2d pixel art builder anyways I just used full on *admin godmode* method to get through the bosses. I'll beat all the bosses appropriately when the games in full release and everything has been tweaked appropriately, for now though, admin is my friend for spawning in blocks and not spending a million hours mining the non-craftable ones without mods.

One thing I've discovered, for anyone looking for balanced armor, if you have the materials to construct both the separator's and manipulator's table, an armor set of a Violium Chestplate and the rest being Rubium, or vice versa, is better than an Aegisalt set.

yeah in my opinion this fight is ******* broken and chucklefish should fix it. this guy does way too much damage for the armor you are supposed to have and this is complete BS so in the end I cheated to beat him so I could continue the game

This boss hits hard, especially if you're wearing Rubium, but all of his attacks have tells and if you know what you're doing, you can dodge everything he throws out. It's just a matter of learning his attacks. There's only one dirty trick this bos pulls, and that's the Missile Barrage attack - you've probably never encountered destructible projectiles up to this point. He's not broken, just very unforgiving.

    PUNCH
    Tell:
He draws his fist behind his body where you can't see it.
Damage: 3 (or so) strikes, and you're out!
How to Avoid: Don't stand within arm's reach of his front, and he won't be able to punch you. Either stand directly on top him (he doesn't deal contact damage), or keep your distance.

    FLAMETHROWER
Tell: Immediately follows one of his other attacks. It's seldom ever used consecutively.
Damage: Lethal only if he traps you in a corner and barbecues you constantly for a while.
How to Avoid: Even though he tracks your movements with the flamethrower, it has very limited range. Use Targetted Blink or Rocket Boots to get to the other side of him, and don't let him trap you in the corner as he trundles forward, spewing fire.

    DASH 2000
Tell: He stands still, but is NOT in the center of the room.
Damage: Goes through Rubium armor like moist cardboard
How to Avoid: Make like a Matador and jump him when he charges across the room. If you aren't confident in your jumping, use Rocket Boots or Targetted Blink to get past him as he rushes you. ¡Toro, toro!

    MISSILE BARRAGE
Tell: He stands still, in the center of the room, but does not float upward.
Damage: Enough to splatter you in 3 hits or less.
How to Avoid: He launches 3 missiles. They home in on you, but here's the trick - they're destructible! You can hit them with just about any weapon and they'll blow up in mid air - just don't get caught in the blast radius when they do. If you fire an AoE magic weapon right on top of his cockpit (like the pulse crystals from the Cardinal's Chalcedony), you'll not only damage him but the missiles will blow up harmlessly as soon as he launches them.

    OVERLOAD
Tell: He stands still, in the center of the room, and floats upward, covered in electricity. He deals contact damage at this point, watch out!
Damage: Depends on how many bolts he hits you with. One or two should be manageable, but getting hit with 3 or more can be fatal.
How to Avoid: This is his big-bad super-attack. Stand in a corner and get out a 2-handed sword or a shield. The bolts he fires are not random - they're arranged like the spokes on a wheel, and you can block them pretty easily once you recognize the pattern. If you're feeling gutsy, he's NOT invulnerable during this attack - you can potentially shoot him while he's hovering.
Note: This attack is not random. He uses it at specific times, so you always know when it's coming. Shockhopper will Overload once each time you deplete about 20% of his health. In addition, he will interrupt other attacks to use Overload - if you can heap on the damage fast enough, you can lock him in this attack until he dies.

I thought this fight was really unfair until I learned you can just crouch in the corner during his overload attack.

I found that, as you have to cross a door to the arena, you can simply attack it from there, as long as you avoid crossing it completely, althrough it´s more like cheesing it.

Remember that you can stack actively-healing items. Food (which can also give helpful status boosts like Rage, which increases damage output), Stims and Medkits/Nanowraps can all be used in quick succession to really pile up the HP regain fast.

You'll probably want to use Violium armor since that gives you a much, MUCH better defense and health boost.
