I like your post as you highlighted some good points. But I would just like to put a little input on releasing beta to the public with still having bugs(also meaning game breaking bugs) It really is how you go about it and fix them bugs or just ignore the issue all together. (I am not trying to advertise just using as a example) Project Zomboid is a good example of going about and listening to the public feed back about bugs and stomping them out. They have forum release download and on desura and its not even the full game. But they are constantly fixing issues very fast and giving you the updated build. I remember they even had a game breaking bug for a few days where some people couldn't play if they had a integrated intel graphics card. People were mad but they got right to it and fixed it. I feel they are doing an excellent job of going about giving a beta with bugs/ game breaking or not.

And on the fact that it was just a 'lets play' they probaby wanted yogscast to play it to get the game out there. In doing so they gave the game a bad taste. They could have preped them before or something, I mean only one of them played it for a hour. But maybe they didn't have time, who knows. But we all have our own impressions. I just wanted to share mine with you and see what you guys felt.

I have no issue with the boss (even though the devs were probably helping behind the scenes) Yeah its a starting boss not suppose to be anything grand or over the top. I thought it was cool for what we got to see.

Off-topic: I don't remember gw2 having launch problems, as I was one of the first few to login. But I guess I did have 3day early access, but still don't remember problems with the full release. Maybe I have just forgotten.

I feel pretty much the sameway.
I mean: Yogscast sucked hard at playing this game. They have not got something done. They had swords, which killed mobs in two hits but used weak guns instead.
They never noticed when they picked something up and broke their stuff all the time. As well as the stairs/wooden platforms which they destroyed instead of just
    dropping though it.
I never had an opinion regarding Yogs and Totalbiscuit since I mostly watch LPers of my nationality. But after seeing this.... Yogs are F-ing incompetent.
Also, this game looked in a pretty much playable state, I can't believe that someone who has not backed this game or has shown mayor interest in this game (I'm following this game since there was something posted about it on the Terraria-Wiki, speak: arround 21st Feb '12) gets the game before every one of us backers and long-time followers.
So go hug yourself Chucklefish, but after this I'm never gonna buy anything from you.

It's unfortunate that the stream has gotten such a mixed reaction. It seems like they primarily suffered from a lack of organization: If they had a developer playing mentor for them, or something similar to keep them on-track, I think the whole stream would have gone a lot better. Personally? I actually suspect a bit that the I49 organizers may hold some of the blame. I don't have any solid evidence, just a suspicion: Evidently, they were having trouble with lines for autographs, etc, and the yogscast had difficulty with their own Q&A session. It wasn't just Starbound; It seems that everyone had a rough time there. The first Starbound stream had issues too, with that awful echoing. And now apparently Tiy is going to attempt to do a developer demonstration (as seen on twitter), but he can't be certain he'll actually have the hardware needed to accomplish it.

So, my guess as to what really happened? The event organizers simply weren't up to their task, and were making mistakes and mismanagement behind the scenes. That put stress on Chucklefish, and probably the Yogscast as well, which resulted in a stream that wasn't well planned out and didn't turn out how either of the parties had hoped. Obviously, I have no proof that this was the case, but it would make a lot of sense. At any rate, it certainly could have been a lot worse: A lot of people still enjoyed it. I'm optimistic that they can learn from their mistakes here, and put out many more high quality events in the future.

Jeezus Arash, did you miss the daily updates over the past two weeks where they said they were doing their damndest to make sure the game was stable up to the point where you fight your first boss. and did you not see Yesterdays stream where the game was crashing every 5 minutes despite all they had done up to then? Someone should have gone to specsavers.

If Tiy is planning for a dev demo than that would be a great start to doing something right. Hopefully he is able to.

Are you talking about the stream that literally crashed only two times due to FTL travel? If so yes I have and it was not crashing all the time. But if they were rushing to get a boss done for i49, than maybe they should've have gone and focused on more important issues, like getting the game to run. If they can't handle everything all at once than they might need to take a step back and like I said 're-evaluate'
I have already mentioned that they are doing a lot of hard work, and I am still excited for the 'game', but I think they need to step back and rethink some things. I do not intend in anyway to talk trash about chucklefish or starbound.

Maybe you don't intend that but your thread opens that can of worms for people less considerate than you. maybe you should have considered that before hitting that post button

Sorry they can not take criticism very well then. I am allowed to share my thoughts and impressions. Love me or hate me, doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

Well I understand you, but since the first screenshot (or nearly one of the first) of Starbound I ever saw was the one on the ice planet, with penguins on it, I was very very amused to see super intelligent penguins being foes :)

I like that idea, it was funny :p

Theres a difference between offering criticism and being Bratty. Arash with this:

You know what, I actually enjoyed the stream, and I thought I would hate it.

Jealousy can cause a lot of bias, so be careful. After watching that I think they were a perfect pick for the Starbound stream play through.

If you intended that second quote to be directed towards me; I did not say that, it was someone else. And if he feels that way, who are you to say he can't? If he doesn't want to buy anything again from chucklefish he doesn't have to.

I feel I am being pretty fair and not bratty. This is simply my impression from the stream. Sorry you feel that way.

I saw people having fun with the game and also showing it off. The crowd was entertained, so demo successful.

I wish I could say I'm surprised at the fact that people are flipping out about it not being demoed by MASTER GAMERS, but I'm really not, because the entitlement complex of a lot of you people here is just so absurd that you've become parodies of yourselves.

I guess you guys didn't watch this dev demo that was on the 23rd?

So much better than the yogscast and was quite nice.

Also I think boss spawning minions is a gaming trope that no game like this should be without. The more important thing is how the engine can do that and how robust those minions were (if you include the penguins). The boss was pretty easy compared to terrarias first bosses and it's obvious they can scale and randomize even the bosses.

I don't mean to come across as hateful to you, but saying things like "Sorry they can not take criticism very well then." comes across as fairly hostile. It just seems like you're saying that if someone disagrees with your post, then they have a problem (unable to take criticism well). You may not intend it that way, but that's how it comes across to me.

No no no, I really mean no hostile at all and that is what I am trying to get across, I wanted to share the impressions. But when you have people coming along and saying I am hostile over and over all I can do is say sorry and move on. I thought I had made it clear several times that I mean no hostile what so ever, but some of you insist that I am hostile. But I guess some of you may see it that otherwise, nothing I can do about it, sorry its not the same way that you feel.

I believe that you don't mean to come across as hostile. But I also could see others seeing that as a ploy and not something you really mean, whether you intended it that way or not. But I guess you're right that if you make a good effort to come across as non hostile, and people just won't accept it as non hostile, then all you can do is move on.

Since this is a reevaluation thread, I'll start off by saying. Mollygos is way hotter than I originally thought she'd be. In a cute hipster chick sort of way.

Now onto the demo. The stream sucked. It was too much about 'look Yogscast' and not enough about 'look Starbound'. Not only that, they sucked.

They should have been given some time back stage to do a quick play through. To at least know what the hell they were doing. And to learn the basics. Watching them play was frustrating.

Knowing that they had such a short amount of time to play, why on earth would they focus at all, on gathering resources? Or building? The most boring thing to watch next to watching paint dry. This should have been a run and gun type of let's play. Plain and simple. Maybe some questing. But definitely no slow mining, with the slowest mining equipment in the entire game. It was all just meh.

I'm confused, I haven't seen it yet, but is this the first stream of gameplay some of you have seen? Can't imagine it's that bad...

Regardless, I too am baffled by the whole "not even pre-alpha" comment which is has to be somewhat of a Freudian slip. The game may not be feature complete but it sure as hell aint pre pre-alpha...

I have to agree entirely; I was looking forward to pre-ordering because I was so excited for Starbound and have been since the very beginning only to see they got these jokers to play the game and make a complete mockery of it. I'll wait for the eventual release, whenever that is, and perhaps purchase then, but as is, the desire to play this game just isn't there anymore.
