Hi everyone! After hearing so many good stories on Starbound, I decided to go for it and so far it seems pretty awesome! Hopefully I'll even be getting my nephews into the game too, haha. I look forward to learning more about the Starbound universe and getting to know more people! PS: I am trying to come up with a name for my Gold Tier NPC. @Katzeus - I've noticed that sometimes quite randomly I will start sustaining continuous "-7" damage until I die. This seems to happen randomly, sometimes when I touch down on a planet that has no hazards, sometimes when I'm just walking along in a cave, and each time without any apparent stimulus. Have you noticed this? I'm not sure if it is a bug or not, but it's just strange that it happens for no apparent reason
Next time you see it try eating some food. Sometimes your hunger bar will run out on your ship, where you're immune to damage and after beaming down the hunger suddenly starts kicking you in the teeth. Just my best guess because it always happens to me
@Katzeus - I'll definitely take a look at that next time it happens! If I remember correctly, it has happened before when I just respawned and teleported down.... not 100% sure, so I'll just watch the hunger level next time! Thank you! :-D
@Katzeus - Potentially silly question: I uploaded my avatar when I first signed up for this forum. However, whenever I try to upload a new one, it doesn't replace the current one. I have tried this in two different browsers, and it just won't work. I have even deleted my current avatar, and then uploaded a new one, but it just replaces it with the original. And then I log into the forum with one browser, delete the avatar, log into the forum with a different browser, and then try to upload a new avatar.... but the picture that comes up is the original avatar - not the new one. Is there something that I am totally brain-dead brain-farting on here, or is there perhaps an error happening?
That one is actually an issue a few other people have, so it's nothing you're doing. I think there's a fix coming.
Welcome to the forums jude I've noticed this, sometimes you can run out of food points on your ship, and nothing happens, and then as soon as you beam down you immediately start taking starvation damage Best of luck with deciding on a name for your NPC! Hahahaha nice edit there! ;-) I am definitely a bit OCD with my spelling hahaha Concerning the damage topic, I'll take a look at that and see if that's happening. If in fact the damage is due to hunger, it would seem to make sense to maybe make the damage incur a little bit more slowly. The other thing is that if it is in fact hunger damage, it seems that all the times I incurred the "7-damage-to-death", I have not been warned of the hunger level beforehand.

I wonder if there is a bug with the hunger system which prevents the hunger meter from displaying. For example, I used some cooked meat, but the hunger meter did not display.
I've noticed that myself. It won't appear for me if I only eat one or two sometimes. Hopefully they improve it soon...
