Is the time of day on a planet effected by your location on the planet? like if you run to the other side of a planet while its night can you outrun the rising or setting of the sun?

  2. No. Or at least I highly doubt it.
But that could be a cool feature I suppose.

lol running forwards or backwards in time...

It would be funny at first, but I think that for small planets it wouldn't look good overall. From what I know so far, all planets have time variations, some planets has a longer night period than other planets, some has a shorter day and night cycle. That's about all I know, not sure if some planets remain dark or remain with daylight, that would be cool though.

Planets have universal time, meaning its the same time everywhere on the planet

For a big planet I'll admit it could look really cool though, racing against the night fall on your cruiser.

I'm sorry to nit-pick, but you're running forwards or backwards in time zones. Otherwise some weird temporal stuff would be going down... Like running faster than the speed of light.

Anyway, the planet would have to be really small for this to happen, or you'd have to move incredibly quickly. I just feel it wouldn't be terribly realistic. (And no, I don't think that's a contradiction. Just because it's a game with alien races and things, that doesn't mean physics don't apply.)

Ridiculous. Unless you had control over time itself.

It was a joke man, it was not tied to the subject directly. But yeah running forwards or backwards in time would be cool.

Somewhat unrelated but i'd like an item in-game similar to the songs in Zelda -

    Change it to Day
    Change it to Night

Especially if you're trying to farm for a specific kind of monster/item that requires it to be one or the other. Also if you're scared of the dark you can just skip back to Day :p

  14. That would nice, but it should only be an end-game item, 'cause then you could use it every time it changes to night to get the strong night-monsters away.

Song of storms in my head. Instantly. Every single time... Also that crazy accordion guy in the windmill.

But yeah, I really like this idea. Especially combined with the music system in Starbound. That would be really fun.

On the serious side: It was stated somewhere that whole planet will have a "standard" time, so your moving/ wouldn't affect it. No prooflink, sry.

That would be silly :) the planets we will be on are not a round objects, they are flat (like the original idea of our planet way back in the history), connected so you can run inifnitely like it's a round object. I would not like that to be honest.

Just assume that the 2D plane you run through is a single time zone.
(Don't mentions poles I will explode.)
