I honestly have no idea; I simply provided the one source I knew of that touched on this subject.

    What?
I haven't been around a while, Bart Van Der Werf is gone from Chucklefish!
Was it general frustration I saw on streams or the lack of excitement in game development that caused it.

Neither, actually - he's working on his own game! Exciting!

I can't believe people would take off and work on their own game for no reason though.

Yeah, why would someone leave a job to work for themselves? Crazy!!

Well here are a few reasons, so I;ve heard -

    1. You dont work for the man
    2. You are your own boss
    3. You can wear whatever you want
    4. 4 day work weeks
    5. Spend more time with the fam

Yeah, who would want that disaster?

There's reasons. Obvious, ostensible ones, and between what is being said about it too, but that's just my opinion.

His own game isn't being mentioned/promoted/published by his former employer. You make of that what you will.

Left, past tense. No one knows for sure when exactly, but I think it was between Feb-April-ish

Not exactly sure if that does mean any malice between them. It is just as likely Bartwe wanted to make a game that would get famous on its own merits and not because Chucklefish pointed it out as it is that he begged them not to associate it in any way with Chucklefish due to the drama surrounding Starbound.

Since the sensible, non-conspiratorial explanation for his departure isn't exciting enough, the new theory (that from now on supplants any other dumb theory) is the light on the back of Bartwe's hand started flashing red and now it's one of them Logan's Run type deals.

Actually this attitude is a common mistake, and one of the reasons why most small businesses fail within a year.

Why would it? He left the company to do his own thing 'on his own two feet'. Just because he used to work for a developer and publisher doesn't mean it would be them promoting. If that were the case all the time Starbound could have ended being done by Re-Logic.

People are just looking for gossip and 'material' to spin so they can continue chugging along on this irrational hate train they have going on

The gaming industry came up with ideas like KickStarter and Steam's Early Access program to remove those pesky little pitfalls like "risk," "collateral," "hard work," and, "bankruptcy." Now you get paid first, and work... if you want.

Or possibly that Re-Logic wanted nothing to do with Starbound...

Why would it? I don't know how to respond to that. Because there is a relationship there? They aren't strangers? You know, the obvious stuff. All of the games that CF is publishing are from devlopers "on their own two feet".

I'm not looking for gossip, as I said, I'm reading between the lines. I made no assertions and claimed they are my own opinions. I'm entitled to them, and you are to yours.

Yes I get that (could of worded it better granted), I was just making a point that just because they have a relationship doesn't mean they would mention/promote/publish his game. There are many reasons why he won't want them to, but people seem to want to think the worst and in this case that he wants to distance himself from the project/company or other reasons along the same vein.

Like you I'm not naive to think that just because Tiy/CF said it was amicable means it was, but I don't see the point of brining it up over and over.

Failing has nothing to do with those things, it is about the individual. You either have it (entrepreneurial spirit) or you don't. You can work 40 or 140 hours, if you are terrible at negotiations/people skills you wont succeed.

I think your going lone gunmen theory here....you might have something if he was banned from this forum and they allowed no links out to his project or no discussion but that is not the case (currently).
