Thread for discussing Bartwe's departure from Starbound

That is true, you got me there. So I just have to search every employees search history. Of course the example you gave was what you were posting, so I guess I have to include you too.

That definitely seems more reasonable than a "Announcement: Bartwe is no longer working on starbound, he has left to pursue other endeavors, we wish him the best" on the news page.

No, I would rather NOT have the thread. I would rather the information not be in the forum at all. That's my point.

They obviously felt what he had to say about it all was enough for any adult community to be satisfied with.

Or, a friend of theirs is no longer working with them officially now, and they still need some time to adjust and collect their thoughts in order to post something meaningful and felt that was understandable enough for any adult community to handle.

Give it some time instead of proving them wrong.

I'm fine with what bartwe had to say about it. I don't need any details about how it went down or why. I just want to know the actuality of it. When it happens. On the news page.

I really don't think it's an unreasonable thing to expect. As I've said before, regardless of how you feel the overall impact to the game is going to be, it's far more newsworthy than a lot of what gets posted on the main page.

I keep hearing that this is "old news", so either that isn't right, or they've had ample time to process his loss.

 

I have to agree, Bartwe's departure could have been posted on the front page.

But to be perfectly honest, if for whatever reason they didn't want to, so be it, I guess.

In general, a heck of a lot of posters on these forums seem to have a problem conflating a disagreeing opinion with a personal attack or outright dismissal of validity

Uh, no. Accusing someone of personally attacking you when they express an opinion doesn't 'make a discussion a discussion', it makes a discussion into a dead-end slog at best and a flame infested shouting match at worst.

I am not saying you fall in to this category at all, just putting it out there.

I have always thought that opinions need to be factual to have any real ownership and irrefutable weight. If you were to say "I like the moon" That would be an opinion that is without question.
But if I replied "Not me, I like the third green moon" it's still an opinion, but's it's relevance to the argument is invalid since it's an opinion of something fabricated.

This is where I see most of the bickering happening on the forums.

 

well i'm on the faction who's saying: "why are you even bothering about something like bartwe quit from starbound?"
it's not like it's nice to know, but there's no need for it to start a thread even 2 threads as this one is a duplicate ?
as long as the game keeps progressing it's all good, isn't it ? And i think wouldn't there be going on all this crap on here the game might have been 2 or 3 steps further, but whatever.
I mean bartwe even put up some info on that but yeah.. still not on here, i do have to agree that a notice on the front/blog page would have been nice, but it's not like i really care about that.

Oh I agree.
I think this is most likely a result of us hearing about it before the official announcement. Usually companies tend to stay quiet until everything has confirmed and taken care of on all levels.

Kinda sucks that even if they do now people will still use it as a point to flip out.

On the subject though, I wish him luck in his future projects and appreciate his work in Starbound. I will be keeping an eye on his progress.

 

The man's done enough for Starbound to deserve my personal thanks for his fantastic work.

I'm going to keep a close eye on Staxel.

 

Okay, JEEZE. We accidentally hit bartwe with the car and we buried him in the old Chucklefish pet cemetery but the ground was sour and he came back... wrong.

And now every time someone posts three threads on the same forum about his whereabouts, he pops up and eats everyone.

HAPPY NOW?! ARE YOU NOT INFO-TAINED?!?!
