Thread for discussing Bartwe's departure from Starbound

Rampant speculation with no way to gauge if any of it well ever be proven true. Ok I will assume since they found some one to do what he did that the game will be made. What do you think will happen?

 

Well isn't most of this forum comprised of 'rampant speculation'?
What's the point of discussing the new AI's , for example, considering we're not developers and all we can do is speculate?

 

Of course the game will be made. And i would even say that bartwe leaving the team will have nearly no impact on the final product. the game development is still going on, as it was before - at least thats what i am guessing. because there is no way of knowing anyway (lack of developer updates at that time).
CF will get more coders when the time comes, and i believe i read somewhere that they already had interviews with a few people. So i am not afraid that CF will stop from a little change in their crew setup.

i don't think so... he's probably living in UK but was not a part of the move, he joined sometime later. @metadept , correct ?

 

You do realize that Bartwe stopped working on the game around the time of the move right? Look at the last time he streamed coding Starbound. I had a hunch he left the team when he started streaming nothing but Staxel. So really his contributions haven't been visible for ages. It's just now that people started catching wind and coming up with pointless conspiracy theories

No, most of us don't. Because there was no announcement. There still hasn't really been anything official, other than he himself confirming that he left.

His post on playstaxel is dated today, so it still isn't real clear when he left. I guess the logical assumption is that "not moving" means "moving on", but that's just inference, and I wouldn't wan't to assume that everyone that didn't move is quitting as well, as I don't think that would be true.

 

There was no need. It's called using logic. If a developer that in the past streamed regularly his work on Sb all of a sudden starts streaming nothing but his personal project while others like Omni still stream making SB, what on earth could it possibly mean? Seriously some people just want to be baby fed information instead of using simple logic. It's kinda funny and sad

 

Seriously? Because I don't actually WATCH the developers work, I'm asking to be spoon fed?

Let me see if I get the train of logic right:

I want to know about starbound so I go to playstarbound website. I ignore everything on the main page, because it's not the search function. I then proceed to search for everything that could possibly happen to infer truths by elimination, and search for everyone's post history so I can get an idea of what is generally going on.

I don't see what there really is to discuss. His departure doesn't seem to have affected development much. Additionally, his reasons for leaving have been stated.
It makes sense, to me at least, for the news to go unposted if the other devs didn't want him to leave and therefore didn't mention it.

...Or he could have decided that he was bored of steaming SB, or that the SB community wasn't recieving his steams well. These things can be interpreted in multiple ways. I also suggest not antagonizing people for not knowing/caring about devs streaming.
I seem to notice that your similar thread about Omni streaming hasn't been updated for a while...

 

if you search Bartwe Stream you get the post I linked on the very first page. That is hardly searching EVERYONE's post history.

They have someone else capable of filling the same (or at least similar) role, so I sincerely doubt there will be any real lasting impact. I am glad he was part of the team, I am thankful for his contributions, and I wish Bartwe well on his future endeavors.

With everyone else located in and around London now, it is likely that because of his family that a move wasn't viable. I assume he was paid for his work, as he deserves, and is now enjoying work on his new project and spending more time with his family after the frantic shuffle that was Starbound.

 

Guys. Let's keep the discussion civil. Try not to insinuate things that can be considered insulting or offensive.

 

Agreed. Sadly some people just can't settle for that and need to know all the nitty gritty stuff.
