Thread for discussing Bartwe's departure from Starbound

I keep seeing people get banned for mentioning in other posts, here is a post about it so people can discuss. also here is what Bartwe is working on incase you're interested in continuing to support an indie dev.

Wasn't looking to discuss drama, but rather to collect info for interested parties (ie the fact that he had left, his current projects in case you'd like to support, thread to talk about his contribution to starbound / appreciation, etc..)

I can see where this is going.

 

I downloaded his game. It's pretty but I have no idea what the endgame is.

 

Sadly, apparently it uses XNA, so i guess i wont be able to try it, ever. Still wish him best of luck.
As for discussing: Do we have to do this? From what i heard there was no drama, so no room for speculation, imho.
(gee, now i start discussing.. lol)

People don't get banned over talking about Bartwe's departure (which was already discussed, twice).

I also don't see what there is to discuss after bartwe left his personal reason with us, especially since the OP didn't start off with any discussion points.

 

Forgive me as I haven't read every thread about it yet, but is there a reason why this isn't mentioned in the news? It's disconcerting that it's only mentioned in the forums.

It seems like a losing a member of a very small dev team on a game that hasn't been released yet, but fully funded, is well, newsworthy?

 

Don't be a jerk, that is what gets you points and banned.

@wayninja , bartwe talked about it in a different thread, and posted about it on his own website, which he linked in said thread. That thread is located in the op.

 

Because most if not all companies go out of their way not to talk about changes in staff.

 

Possibly because this causes unnecessary speculation in a community that is pretty heated anyways currently (at least imho).
Also, if you read the news, they are still working on the game, so i dont think bartwe leaving has such a huge impact as we may think it would have.
Finally: Changing or quitting jobs for various reasons is quite normal, and in most cases you will never notice it, so why make it a big case?

I agree with this poster. It's not newsworthy and not anyone outside of Chucklefish's business.

 

The best way to answer unnecessary speculation is to get in front of the problem. Speculation is a placeholder for information.

I can understand not wanting to make a big deal out of Bartwe's leaving, but it is only natural that the community gets curious.

I find it disconcerting that the bans have been going out left and right to well-worded posts about any sort of 'controversial topic', such as the infamous horse AI , Bartwe, even Omni.
The fact that a lot of threads are getting locked isn't helping either, it almost seems as if any negative feedback is getting 'swept under the rug'.

I apologise, I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything , maybe I'm just stupidly paranoid , all I really want to see is starbound getting fleshed out into the amazing game that it has the potential to be and for the communication lines between developers and community to not get severed.

 

The curiosity is odd when it was answered twice already, and for some odd reason in the op's post.
