Yeah, like if the blocks and stuff were all a % transparant grey.. that would be cool, your character would be the only opaque thing

Actually the second item IS the actual flashlight.

 

I'm pretty sure that's already been confirmed.

Maybe you can get a light emitting spell or something?

 

I don't think they are planning much on magic.

 

It's really neat that we'll be able to use one in this game, and that it's controllable. Though the beam does seem a bit narrow. Still, can't have it be too wide. It's not a stick torch, after all.

Anyhoo, I personally love the idea of flashlights.

 

I am going to make a GIF of a person in starbound, with a gun that has a flashlight. And post it here. And in like 40 other threads

 

I want to see how that comes out.

 

I think that flashlights will not be The only source of light in this game. I mean we can space travel right ? we will have different light sources.

 

This is the sprite I made of an example of a character with a flashlight modification on their Assault Rifle.

I think the flashlight is brilliant.
I hope they limit the amount of placeable torches we can stack, so the flashlight never loses importance.
cause if I can stack 99 torches, I'd never need a flashlight.

Making life too easy takes the fun away...

 

The flashlight looked really ''balanced'' you know what i mean? it didnt light up to much or to little, it was perfect

 

Like a real flash light it lets you see what you want but not enough of it.
And when you shine it in the face of a monster you wish you hadn't...
And it adds a sense of realism, you don't have a 6th sense to detect that enemy about to take you down from behind...

 

excactly! also that scary feeling when you are all by yourself in a cave, it will be so awesome

 

I'm getting this the instant it's released!

I've never been so excited about this game before.
Or for any game in general.
