    Damn Rekalty. :lolwut:

Sure... and I suppose that might actually make a pretty fantastic layout built just like that... never considered it... until now! Might be a bit wonky (a bit? heh) but that main floor diagram on the right could just look pretty epic with a few modifications. Of course- the piano, dining table, hot-tub, all those naked statues, etc will have to be positioned a bit "different" to work and I can see stairs, elevators, and other "room-traversing" modes having to be strategically used for the best aesthetic effect. With a few of my sandstonish pillars supporting the outer corners, and maybe adding a dizzying tower or two... Zoulie might just have herself one gorgeous abode.

  2. Hopefully there are floating islands in the game.

On home planet i would have a ship that has crashed onto the planet that could no longer fly but still able to provide energy and a good shelter.

    Heh, just like Vault 15?

I would like to build something on a floating island too, then expand the base until the island looks like swiss cheese from inside (from outside, it would look like an "ordinary" floating island). Same goes for steep mountains/cliffs.

    ---

I like elaborate concrete fixed fortifications, multi-level basements, really big stationary weapons and little hangars with little rockets inside. At first, I wasted 30 minutes on a really crappy MS Paint sketch, then tried to make something in my outdated copy of Maya, and finally moved on to another game which provided ample opportunities for bunker-building.
Then a ridiculously stupid idea came to my mind - "instead of turning up resolution and trying to fit a base inside one screen, hack multiple screenshots together". "So be it", I thought. There is another building to the left - a variation on classic Terraria design - "Stratotower" - which I didn't like. You may find pieces of shrapnel from it, if you look closely.

    So. Behold!

Tank is a placeholder for a huge anti-Godzilla turret (or Interplanetary Griff Emitter), big indoor area to the left is a mech hangar, a room with two lids is a hangar for aircraft/spacecraft, two lower rooms host an armory and a power generator. A small room with a Dreadnought (big yellow ambulatory turret) will be for a single most useful NPC I can find (others will be left in small houses scattered around the area), should there be one. A room with two "vending machines" is a roof access/ crafting area. I don't know where to put research equipment, probably gonna cram it underneath the base, as the entire roof is currently inside firing arcs of rooftop turrets.
As for SAMs... I haven't heard about them in SB, so consider them placeholders for AA guns. But hell, these launchers look good, don't they?
An above-ground area to the right looks rather barren, so I will build a vehicle garage there or something.

    ---EDIT---
The base held up against the assault pretty well (until my dropship scheduled to "deliver" a dozen of low-yield nuclear bombs to the enemy forces got shot down right above my base and blasted a huge hole through the bunker), so if CC and Starbound share the same common logic, then SB iteration should be rather defensible too.

Hopefully, my base will look like your ordinary military/research base, except it covers the entire surface of the planet.

I'm still hoping for elevators, it'd make more vertical bases MUCH easier to navigate.
