Meh, still feels good knowing you helped even if future players don't know :)

Honestly I feel the biggest mistake they made was putting the paid-for beta on Steam. It's far too easy for those that don't read (98% of the population) to not notice the "DANGER! BETA TEST!" signs and just think "this game luks c00l wow no dis suxx".

This is what it says in the Steam store. It clearly states the game is still being developed. Your entire post is full of hypocrisy and passive-aggressive BS. You can't say for sure whether or not someone will enjoy playing this game because of the current state it's in so don't claim otherwise. The entire game is about using the current mechanics to your advantage, and when those mechanics change so to does your play strategy.

You tell the developers to play the game thinking they will have some sort of new insight into making the game better, and I think that's just pretty rude of you to say that. This is their game, I'm sure they've logged more gameplay hours into this than you have. You're basically saying they have no idea what they're doing. They are changing things as it's needed and fine tuning all the little details.

"Lollerskating" over the first boss? I think you're just wanting the game to be easy, and I hope they don't because the bosses are meant to be a challenge.

I've gotten from the Alpha Sector all the way to the Delta Sector and that was before the weapons glitch that made everything overpowered. I fought tooth and nail to get this far and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

People paid for early access. If they wanted a complete game they should have waited, which you clearly should have.

I mean yeah there's some validity- but that's like pointing out a penny inside of a mound of cow turds. I agree a lot of things are broken, for the longest time beaming off of the ship was one of the most annoying bugs I came across all the time (the one that just keeps beaming you back to the platform again), but it is what it is.

Honestly, the "Huh, I don't like this!" realization is better put to use by forming ideas/suggestions that would increase your enjoyment, or fill those unsatisfying gaps you're sensing, and then the post can go in as a happy suggestion instead of this format..

I think this gameplay method was given away by OP talking about grabbing coordinates just to hunt down and rapidly buy the strongest available gun in the game :) Apply some limits to yourself and buy the WORST gun! :>

Read the Steam forums for ANY game, same story.

    Welcome to beta.

I'm sure you have valid points, but putting them across the way you are and baiting people with such a title for your thread is not the way to go. There's a suggestion forum if you want to give constructive criticism, not tell everyone else what they are actually thinking as if everyone but you is deluded in some way.

That doesn't make the penny lose it's inherent value though, is the point I'm getting at.

In the nicest possible way, while the game in its current state *not played since the update a day ago* is no Terraria, they are taking peoples feedback seriously. I'm no fan of the whole leveling system and the combat needs a lot of work, I do believe it'll get a lot better. I have never seen a first release of a game so polished.

I've never seen my boyfriend get frustrated at anything, but he absolutely hates the new balance update. He prefers the old Armor penetration system. I; however, prefer the new system. That doesn't mean I like everything about it of course. Like, Iron weaponry being only marginally better than your starting weapon, for instance, and upgrades not really feeling like upgrades; but these will be ironed out. It happens when you recreate a combat system you've spent 3 years working on.

With such Threads it's hard to not get the impression that people don't read what the Dev's have postet prior to beta launch as THIS IS ONLY STAGE 1 of 3 and most of the content is still locked out and not visible to us. This is just a tiny fraction of what is to come.

    You make a valid point.

They spent 3 years fine tuning the system they had in place. Then they just rolled out the current version that clearly requires a lot of fine tuning on everyone. Would it have been so bad to internally test it for a little longer as to not drive a lot of people away in frustration? Just logging in and see the 100 dps iron weapons told me they didn't even try the new build before implementing it. As in this is just one large test tube without any thought to the people who paid for it. Large sweeping changes like this happen internally. When you have paying customers, you have to be a little more careful.

Someone should like nuke this thread, if not for the pointless content, but for the attention seeking and non constructive title. Stop feeding this troll thread, and find a more constructive one to participate in.

I have actually. There were a few other poor mistaken souls like yourself that didn't read the early access bit and are whining about the character wipes. The majority of the posts I've seen are about multiplayer not working or having issues, latency issues, some XP crashes still, etc. And if they did just shell out $15 bucks without reading the obvious print right below the game about the state of the early access title, then its their fault for not paying attention. As far as I can tell, the "majority" is still playing the game, which means they're clearly enjoying it, or they enjoy torturing themselves with a game that frustrates them.

I'm not too sure what to think about people who try to assert "this is what you're thinking". I understand when people say the game is too hard, when I don't think it is. My ideal solution would be to help them adapt to the game and its mechanics, rather then ridicule their ability to play it. This game encourages you to be creative. Multiple official sources encourage you to build your fantasy "kingdom", so to speak. You're essentially saying that "using your creativity to create structures that help in combat" is "using unintended mechanics". I don't see any unintended mechanics though. You are freely allowed to build partial structures that may limit a monsters ability to get closer to you. It is the same as running into a cave or your house when you're under attack to get away safely, except in those cases, the structure have already been built.

So then, what's the difference between a structure constructed on the fly compared to one that has already been established? If I am surrounded by monsters and I think of a way to cleverly escape death, I feel immense satisfaction for being so creative, which is what the game is ultimately all about? My creativity just happens to be different from your creativity and judgement. Having different opinions on how you should use the games core mechanics to deal with combat is perfectly alright. No one method is "better" then another.

I think they were a bit quick to release the game on steam. If you came to the site, read about what it was going to be like and preordered it, you knew what you were getting into. If you're just some guy that bought it on steam, then you have no idea what you were getting into, early access is a common theme nowadays, especially with indie games. Early access can usually mean anything, so people probably bought the game expecting it to be finished and not knowing that it was currently in the earliest stage of beta.

Yes the patch was rushed, they didn't bother fine tuning it because there were other things they were trying to push out- the baby monster system (foundation for taming), more encounters, biomes, and treasures underground (which people have been pushing for a good bit), and biggest of all how the game would not play at all on XP. They probably didn't really test out the weapon balance because they wanted to push everything else out that was more important, but they put in what they started on to save work later. But they've told us before, that they will be pushing out patches rapid-fire, tweaking as they go. For someone who supposedly has beta tested for almost two decades, this should not come as a shock to you.

I'm sorry. I know it's rude, but I couldn't help but laugh just a little inside reading that comic strip. I know a lot of people have every right to be angry, but, just the concept of that comic. -chuckles-

OH SHIT this game sucks? Well better stop putting hours into it before I realize it. I mean, I seemed like I was enjoying it, but since it sucks I'm lying to myself and can't enjoy it, unless I'm using work arounds that were removed.
