This game sucks, and you know it

My point exactly. Some of you are ardently defending this game, and I have done so too in the passed. In those games I would read threads like these and think "but I'm having fun!" ...

Get real folks. Their are glaring issues with several key aspects of this game. Issues that take away from having fun and move it into the territory of frustration. If you're having fun, more power to you. Most people aren't. They are paying for a game that should be labeled ALPHA, not BETA. I've been beta testing games for almost two decades. I rather have COTD and visual bugs, then game breaking mechanics.

The moral of the story is people are buying this game right now and their first impression is that of frustration. The people who are REALLY enjoying it are those that would enjoy anything at this point as long as it was called Starbound. If you people take a step back and look passed your own bias for one second you would also see these glaring issues.



We all read the three stages of BETA. I F5ed this website more times these passed two years then most of you. I am disappointed with the state of things. I expected more. Maybe it's because I had such high expectations. That's probably the reason I'm going to shelve this game until it's playable. Because it's not. Spend a moment on youtube looking at some of the strategies people are using. All you see are people running around with their matter manipulator blocking off hordes of enemies because fighting them is just an exercise in frustration. I can't stress this enough folks. An exercise in frustration.

YOU might be enjoying it. But then again you have been waiting for this for ages. So have I. What I'm trying to point out to some of you hard headed folks is that if I'm having these issues, imagine what all of those people who paid $15 on steam are having.

The issue is not looking up coordinates per say. It's the fact that you're forced too because of how broken everything else is just to get passed it.

Well written thread. I got this game with a group of my friends, and I've been playing the heck out of it for days. I freaking love this game, bugs and all. And I just recently beat the Pengnazis on my own, literally an hour ago. I don't know what you're going on about, maybe you just don't like the game, but for me, I love it. I did not like Terraria, but I love this.

 

Which update are you talking about? Cause as it stands now, I don't have to head to planets with merchants to get pass the sector.

This person and many others like him are entitled to their dissatisfaction. They paid for a promise and so far, that "promise" has yet to be delivered. Because the product is in beta, part of the bargain is "early access." This person does not like the early access portion of a game they have paid for and has yet to be released, and that is ok. Some of it sucks, some of it is good, some of it has yet to be completed. They have stated they will come back later, and hopefully, enjoy a product better suited to their tastes.

However, I think the majority of people here simply tell people to "get out" or that they are not "entitled" to the minority opinion. While their opinion may not have been the stated in the most eloquent fashion, it should be welcomed.

The game does have a long way to go, and I do look forward to this person coming back. I wouldn't want the enjoyment of this title to be limited to a select few, or as you later put it, "30 year olds."

In my objective opinion, the entitlement does not seem to be coming from the OP, to say the least.

 

If you aren't supporting or denying it maybe you should stay neutral. I never laughed after my comment so if you are going to quote me at least do it accurately. Sorry but when someone comes onto the forums and clearly bashes the game than a paragraph later says "oh but you work hard" it only shows me that you are a kid just ranting instead of just allowing the devs to do their job. I hope this clears things up for you. This time I didn't 'attack your intelligence'. I hope I am mature enough for you.

Finally, a level headed intellectual.

For the record I'm 28. I will be coming back. Maybe this week after these birds get patched out, maybe in a month when these sweeping changes settle down.

 

This update seems fine to me, I never find myself having to look up coordinates to get past the sector though.

 

Hallelujah praise be logic and rational thinking has entered the thread.

I'm going to get back to playing Starbound, because, quite frankly, Starbound is fun, and threads like this... um... aren't.

 

Whether or not something sucks is entirely subjective. I for one, have enjoyed every one of the 75 hours I've pumped into this game and believe the beta was worth the two year wait. The people here wouldn't be so furious at you if you hadn't said that we do not like it and are pretending. That being said,

Building a Structure to fight the ufo makes sense, but the tiny hole thing is a dick move.

Ok, so I have read the entire post and most of the replies, so here is my input:
1. It appears as if the OP does not understand what the words, "Randomly Generated" mean, as Coordinates to weapons have been discussed at length.
2. Title of this thread was in horrific taste.
3. No actual input here, OP is literally just being pissy about a game being to hard for him and trying to say sorry a moment before saying how the game is bad.
4. I got Silver Armor quite easily, just takes a few hours.
5. Dodge the birds, simple solution, I do it all the time, just run.
And 6. OP is apparently God and knows how everyone feels.
There you go my Input, I LOVE Starbound, glitches(And I don't just mean the race) and all,I find it to be quite relaxing at times, and just hilarious with some of the things you can do, I once collapsed entire subterranean caverns underneath one planet because it was all sand and gravel, it was awesome. So ya, it may be a bit glitchy and unbalanced at times, but it was still worth it for me.
