This game sucks, and you know it

Let me reply with a simple thing. You're in the first phase of the three phase beta. And specifically let me reply with this, again:

"Stage 1 will be move at a breakneck speed. This will be the buggiest and busiest stage of the beta. A bunch of unfinished features will be disabled whilst we finish them up. Updates will come thick and fast, sometimes as often as multiple updates a day.

If you choose to take part during stage 1 you should expect bugs, lots of balance changes, you shouldn’t get too attached to your character or universe as we may make changes that require you to start from scratch. You should expect the game to be broken at points as we make sweeping changes but you’ll get to enjoy exciting new content added constantly. The engine won’t optimized during this stage of the beta so performance could be poor on some low end machines."

- You enjoy testing buggy and unfinished code

- You enjoy providing feedback

- You want to leave your mark on the game

- Bugs infuriate you

The devs warned this is what the beta would be like. So understand that when you complaint about things sometimes, maybe you should read this again and wonder -why- you are playing at this current stage rather than waiting for stage 2 or 3.

I mean no offense, but the devs did their best to lower expectations because they warned phase 1 would be unfinished codes and bug hunting, and basically -did- asks for players who are interested in hunting these bugs, not for players wishing or expecting the full game experience.

 

Or just keep paid beta access to people over the age of 30 lol

It wasn't a launch. It very clearly states when you go to buy the game "THIS IS AN EARLY BETA"

You're right OP, I do feel like I'm playing a different game from you. I haven't exploited or anything like blocking off enemies. I've just been slowly making a base, mining, getting better gear and exploring. The birds (which appear to be your main gripe) do hit hard, and could use some balancing, but I've been able to avoid them completely. Once I have a hunting bow, their simple to dodge and take out. I think I'm going to make a 15 minute video just showing the beginnings of the game and how it's not nearly as hard as people are saying it is. If you don't try to attack everything that moves, you can survive quite easily.

Oh, and your post was in poor taste. Clean up your tone.

 

You can't hit enemies through blocks anymore, the silver set is now only available after crafting the Mk. 2 Star Map. Saucer enemy was a pushover but then I have yet to try since the hotfix.

I'm actually having a lot of fun with the new birds. They can drive you into harrowing positions to be sure, but when you have to quickly whip out the bow and carefully pick your shot with the fact that missing means almost certain death weighing down on your shoulders you get quite a rush and feeling of accomplishment upon success. Later on I'm just outrunning them all with my tech abilities.

Anyway we're here to bug test and make suggestions to the devs. The game isn't complete and you shouldn't say it sucks based on an early build with half the features disabled, many yet to be developed, and balance still being tweaked.

Your post is contradictory, obnoxious and totally unconstructive. Worse thing is that you were warned about the first stage of the beta, and yet you choose to ignore it and instead clog up the forums with more whinging.

Either act like an adult and provide some constructive criticism to help improve the game, or get the fuck out.

 

Honestly I might actually agree with this. I've noticed the trend of ppl getting excited for a game, then they get in and realize it's just a glorified alpha and get tired of the bugs and waiting for things to get fixed. CF might have it better tho since they work hard and have a somewhat larger team, but idk. We'll see if it pays off for them. But yeah early access can be detrimental for some titles and developers.

 

I don't think this game sucks.. I've been having have a fun time playing it and this has been the only video game I've been playing since it came out.. Don't try to speak for everyone with your opinion.

Also no I haven't been blocking off enemies with blocks... The state that Starbound is in right now really isn't that bad. I'm having a hell of a fun time playing it and that's what I paid for.

And your absolute refusal to accept that people are legitimately enjoying this game is hilarious. You sir are in a state of denial. Keep QQ that this game is too hard for you, I'll go back to enjoying Starbound.

 

I figure it's a good age to start with... people who are used to reading and researching something before they spend money on it.

 

My first impressions are that it is a great game, given it's Beta state. Which by the way was no secret as the developers clearly put the in the description on the store page.

As many others pointed out, your title is really offensive. How do you state the quality of a game that is not even out yet, when you know you were buying a Beta in the first place. Maybe you should have made a title like "Some suggestions to make this game better."

My initial impressions are good, I like the combat system which is much improved over the majority of these type of 2d Terraria/Minecraft games. I like the ability to travel to other worlds like in Junk Jack. I like the variety of weapons, crafting, research, etc..

This game has alot going for it and with the update from today, it appears that they listen.

 

You could leave the forums and stop talking is a start.

I don't know, I'm 33 and after seeing all the complaints about difficulty I don't feel anything but old.
I'm trying really hard to understand their perspectives when they make these complaints, but the vast majority of the complaints I've seen have entirely been due to a lack of any kind of reading on their part.

 

Also the penguin boss is perfectly doable since the hotfix, and not a joke either. It was a good fight, lasted long enough to feel like a boss, and I felt like I had to actually control the adds or die.

Not difficult or too easy. Good balance on him. And this was with the Iron Bow mostly.

 

The worst though is that Starbound's devs actually originally stated not wishing to run a public beta, despite people who had played in minecraft's public beta saying it would be fine, -because- they said they were afraid of a massive influx of people coming in and expecting a near complete game.

 

lmao. You must be a horrid gamer. I didn't progress much or even encounter the UFO before this patch ever since I heard about the character wipe. So I had no clue what to expect. But I knew I needed some armor and a decent weapon. So what did it take for me to defeat the UFO boss? Copper armor and some poison-sword I got from some Avion dungeon (Sorry if I got the name wrong ). You telling me that's the grand difficulty gamers have? Christ, I thought I was terrible at games. I'm the casual dink who would half ass at games while sipping some ramen. The birds are so predictable. I'm not even sure where to start with that when I easily dealt with them with my crappy, starter sword. They flew towards you and then go back up. *wow* So complex. Such difficulty. I'm ready to throw my keyboard at the wall now. Damn those birds.

 

Actually, I have fun attacking enemies by evading them either by jumping over them, or charging backwards/forwards. And attacking through walls doesn't work anymore so I don't know which update you are talking about really. The iron weapons and armor aren't that bad for sector 1.

Also they more than likely pre-ordered the game because of the beta invite, which means that they did pay to play through the beta. And the people that buy it through steam, the little early access banner clearly states "Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops." Which means that they should now they were paying for a game that was still in development/beta when they bought it, that is if they paid attention to the banner.

 

Im sure I speak for all the people who understand what beta means when I say to you " ah shut the hell up and get lost" ffs countless this sucks or my reason for hating this game threads

 

The birds do do quite a bit of damage to a character just starting out. =p

And they swarm so good luck dodging seven blood vomits bouncing around. xD
